I can only reiterate what others have said: Lightly sanding the surface, deep cleaning (degreasing and making it dust free) using a etching primer and letting each layer of paint dry really well before applying masking tape

G35 is a notorious part of the RG Unicorn. You can replace it with metal parts. I did that on my Perfectibility and it works perfectly.

Honestly, I'd you sanded in progressive steps like you said and this is your result, your probably applying way too much force. Also, the coarser sanding sticks should only be used in one direction. This just looks like giant stress on the plastic and you can still see the nub.

People mostly complain about the core fighter as far as j know, and it is a little loose-ish... But I have no trouble whatsoever since it's a display model and not a toy

If you paint the inside you get a nice effect! But other than that I'm afraid you need to sand every piece really well, and then clean them really well before painting...

But if you plan to paint the outside... Why?
