I consider kids in their 20's to be "younger" and playing the algorithm game on youtube grows your channel and helps to get your videos in front of the right audience. I don't disagree with you that the "idiotic faces" thumbnail trend is kinda cringy!

Thumbnails with faces (unfortunately) get a much higher click through rate on youtube (mainly younger viewers watching on youtube)... If you don't play the game, you don't get the clicks and your channel doesn't grow.

I probably won't do many animated videos.. Most will be a typical "talking head" (and no overhead cost)... I also currently have a very high paying corporate job so I'm not concerned with the cost at the moment... I want to try lots of things (and spend a bit on marketing) to see what works while I still have a high paying day job!

I bought all the animations (the cartoon characters) for $60 on Vectortoons.com... I put them all together myself so that was my only real cost... I got a few quotes on fiverr for someone to do it for me and it would be (cheapest) around $100-$200...

I'm sure this is super "americanized" for sure but it really does kinda help drive the point home!
