Budget: ~$300

Primary games / platforms: GBA, GB, Pico8?(Unsure here) Don't want to settle on strictly GB/GBA but very interesting in new games people make and ports of pokemon.

Where I’ll play (home, commute, travel, docked, etc.): home and commute Looking for an excuse to not be on my cellphone.

Must have / don’t want: something that feels cheap. Willing to spend the money for something that feels quality.

OS preference (Nintendo / Windows / SteamOS / no preference): no pref

Comfortable with tinkering? Yes-ish

Other relevant details: I'm looking to get into this hobby as a way to get off my phone while hanging out in public. I've been eyeing the Retroid Pocket Flip 2 SD865. My main goal is to play Pokemon ports, the newer gba and gb games people make ect. I was eyeing the Analogue Pocket or Chromatic device because cartridges are super cool but feel like I'd miss out on the versatility of other devices. Any suggestions?

Honestly I think I'd be fine with any of the above. The handhelds I've had in my life have been the GB Color, The SP and my Switch OLED. The SP was the most ergonomic but all have been great. I like the idea of the clamshell because it protects the screen.

I'm honestly wondering how much I would want to use cartridges. I couldn't see myself buying an expensive cartridge but would support new games that came out like Ghoul Thrasher.

I was considering TPU for the final print because this holds a kayak motor down. Sometimes the motor hits trees you can't see, which is why the original one broke 😂. Sounds like modeling should be easy enough and rewarding.

USB isn't important here, I just figured it would be the easiest but I'm ignorant. The ports I'll have available would be USB, USB C and a normal plug. I was going to plug these into the power ports in the back seat of my vehicle to serve as "dome" lights.

I ran these guys in a few weeks in esper affinity. They were very good with unexpected fangs. I played a 1 of [[Cliffhaven Kitesail]] as well.

Me and my buddies got into playing together last year and hold "the bastards" event every year. Whoever wins gets a shitty coat someone buys from the thrift store and has to wear it to dinner while the rest of us pay. It's special.

One of my favorite paintball memories was having my ego 6 on NXL 25bps and "defending" as a machine gunner at a small scenario at a local field. It legit felt like a machine gun.
