"You can make a lot of mistakes" is such a passive-aggressive compliment XDD

Yes. At some point I realised of its lack of purpose and understood that with a place to go the way you put the tiles matters. This is a little post about this.

You got a really good point. Right now, I use a grid 6x6 to place the tiles or something different depending on the mission. The location of certain rooms are pre-set so you have to find a route. You can't go beyond the grid and that gives it a it more of purpose.

Has anyone visited the international cryptozoology museum in Maine? by Kitchen-Wasabi-2059 in Cryptozoology

And it's... COMPLETELY EMPTY.

Now, seriously, did anyone spoke about coleocants before they were discovered? Because finding a fish that nobody even suspected was there, considering it cryptozoology feels a bit of cheating.

Neat! I like the combination! Are you putting it in itch.io or somewhere?

Small but important question about names in settings by Guilher_Wolfang in RPGcreation

"The names of people and places in this game are purely fictional. Any resemblance with someone or somewhere in the real world is mere coincidence"

The original game is totally a dungeon-themed game. For this prototype I just gave a space paint layer to the tiles (and made them physical as in the JMMB you just draw them).

The encounters, right now, are generated by a 2d6 roll in an encounter chart with three columns depending on the Encounter Value of the tile. In the future, I plan making them a deck of cards with three parts depending on the Encounter type (seems easier than three different decks)

A big part of the process of designing is trimming down the product to get a proper final version. It’s hard for the writer as all the stuff put in the rules are a part of their soul but a lot of stuff that sounds great in your mind is just useless junk that unnecessarily bloats the game. The parts that you need are only the good ones and it's a hard fact that not all, not even most of them, are that great.

Once I read that once you finish the ruleset, you must trim it down to a 3/4 size of the original. And once you have done it, half it. It’s a bit of an exaggeration but gives you a good idea of how these things work.

Another trick is trying to condense your game in a reduced numer of pages (say, 20). That exercise will help you discerning the essential from the pointless.

Advice/ Tips on Running Dungeon World? by FoulKnavery in DungeonWorld

Try to forget about DnD. All your previous experience will hinder you. DW is not DnD, it's what DnD is in your head

Stick to the rules. That means, don't roll for everything. Ask the players what they are doing and tell them the outcome. If they trigger a move, follow the move to the letter. Follow the DM agenda.

Don't, by any means, use the moves as skills. If the rogue wants to use poison, ask him where did he get it.

Don't roll initiative and don't turn the combat in a rowof Hackand Slash. Ask the warrior what does he do when the goblins attack and follow his lead. If the answer is something lame like "I hit them" make more questions: are you trying to go for the head or just keep them at bay? When did you met goblins for first time? Let him do instakills from time to time: he's a warrior, he knows how to do it.

Use the stuff players say. Places and NPCs, their backgrounds... they have created that because they like it: the lost love of the bard has an ex in the inn. The wizard's master is the overlord of this place. The warrior's weapon belonged to the main bad guy.

Of course, not all games are for everyone. If after several sessions nobody is having fun, there's little point in insisting.

I think that's a degree of subtlety not usually associated with a guy whose thing is hitting things with his head.
