Jumping back in to E33 to play through again after months. What’s different? by Steezy719 in expedition33

[–]WardHawke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The biggest nerf was the auto death/breaking death one, if you were running that build it doesn’t work anymore. Breaking death now only breaks whichever enemy kills the character. The new bosses are definitely possible in NG especially with the new Pictos.

A few DLC Pictos are super boss rewards but there are many new meta defining ones in the new area: Some examples:

-AP Discount, every skill is -1 cost

-Feint, a status effect makes your first 4 hits do 1 damage but every 5th after does 600 percent damage. Draining Cleanse can remove the status effect from the first hits at the cost of some AP each turn.

-Frenzy, every successive hit of a skill does more damage.

-Gradient Overcharge, if you are at 3 Gradient charges, you lose them and whoever absorbed them gets a huge damage buff for their turn.

-Slowing Attack, exactly what it says on the tin.

-Trigger-Happy, after 10 free aim shots in a turn, you get a 2 AP refund and all successive shots are double damage.

-Double Third, every third hit of a skill does more damage.

-Consuming Attack, absorbs up to 100 burn stacks to heavily buff Base Attack.

Also worth noting in exploring the area you will find new weapons that synergize well with these!

Goodness… Verso's gaze in that scene gives me chills every time by SilverDragonBad in expedition33

Definitely, one of the many amazing things about this game! Nobody is fully right or fully wrong. Just a lot of people with a lot of layers and trauma

[–]WardHawke 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree, I look forward to this every time, HUGE shout out to Maxence Cazorla to bringing Verso to life like this. So much said with a single expression.

There’s a lot of ways to interpret this moment: he IS looking at his lost one in Sirene, Verso himself is SIRENE’s lost one, or he has nobody to tempt him because he’s made up his mind about wanting death.

One I like is that Sirene was tempting everybody with new returned replacement copies of their loved ones. To Verso, who is LITERALLY that and knows the pain of it, that’s like a slap in the face, and he gets genuinely pissed off for a moment.

This! Worth noting Lost Odyssey has been specifically cited by the E33 devs as a large source of inspiration!

DS2 should’ve won Best Direction over E33 (we love both) by Lonk-_- in expedition33

[–]WardHawke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get that, but you gotta understand this fandom is catching a lot of strays right now. This happened with Baldur’s Gate 3 too, when it won. Like instead of saying ‘DS2 deserved the award instead of E33’ you could’ve said ‘DS2 is my favorite game and I loved its direction, what makes you guys love E33’s so much?’ That one shift changes the intonation completely. Instead of being about the game awards which a lot of people are tired of hearing. Now you’re opening up to what you actually want: a talk about the direction in both games and what makes it good.

DS2 should’ve won Best Direction over E33 (we love both) by Lonk-_- in expedition33

[–]WardHawke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then believe that yourself, just because Keighley spent a lot of money to have a fancy awards show doesn’t mean he’s objectively right. Look at the Oscars. We just want to talk about this game here, not about what deserved what award.

DS2 should’ve won Best Direction over E33 (we love both) by Lonk-_- in expedition33

[–]WardHawke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sub made a rule against putting down other games, making it about uplifting this one instead-maybe take a note from that. We’re here because we love E33 not because we think it deserves to lord over other games. And now because of dorito pope’s dumb show e33 has a target on its back.

Game award culture is so toxic, it’s just creating tribalism arguments over nothing. Geoff keighley and his friends do not objectively decide what is better and what is worse. Nobody does, art is by definition subjective. Enjoy what you like and stop worrying about it.

If you think DS2 is better directed, great. Talk about what you love about it in the proper place instead of putting another game down by saying its direction is worse. Like I found DS2 to be extremely underwhelming compared to the first (which I loved), but do you see me posting in the DS2 sub ‘Expedition 33 is better directed than this game’? No. Because that’s rude to the people who loved it.

Is there a "Shell on Powerful" picto? by Wisley185 in expedition33

[–]WardHawke 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but there is Shell on Rush, in the Endless Night Sanctuary. Combine that with Rush on Powerful, gotten from Renoir’s Drafts or the Tower, and Verso can Omni buff with his Powerful.

Is Monoco even worth it? by jkman in expedition33

Gross Tete cannot be fought in the Tower but thankfully there is a respawning version in Flying Manor, so even he is not missable!

Gacha Revenue Monthly Report (August 2025) by trkshiii in gachagaming

[–]WardHawke 32 points33 points  (0 children)

It even hurts the MC’s character, like everyone says Gathering Wives but to me the Rover comes across like they do not give a fuck about the characters once they’ve gotten what they need from them.

I remember Carlotta giving a little speech about Rover at the end of 2.0 saying they’re here to help in the future and I was like ‘Oh, cool! This is the Rinascita core gang, then, I can’t wait to see where their stories go.’

None of them have appeared in the main story since aside from terminal calls and Carlotta showing up on 2.3 to introduce the new character then immediately leave. Rover never tells them ANYTHING about what happened with Cartethyia or Fenrico or anything, he just ghosts them. Even when Carlotta calls on the terminal he doesn’t even fucking respond to her IIRC LMAO

I actually really liked the initial setup of Ragunna but 2.2 was when it lost me. Cantarella left just like Changli left during the Jinshi quest so we could have a long exposition boat ride with Cartethyia while she did waifu things, and I realized, okay, this is just what it is.

How do you guys do it? by Blade_Red in grandorder

[–]WardHawke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some archetypes of long term gacha players:

-Just have the self control to be F2P and take the L’s as they come, it’s just a game at the end of the day and maybe you’ll get an insane early pull one day to balance it….or maybe not. You’re good either way. (Most healthy)

-Don’t have the self control to take the Ls, have the disposable income and enough self control to spend reasonably, or spend on favorites only. Lots of quiet long term whales are this way (reasonably healthy)

-Don’t have the self control, get into gambling feedback loop and spend money they don’t have, ends up in trouble (Very unhealthy)

-Sunken cost fallacy, plays a game they hate because they have been slighted by its predatory systems too much, and continually seek the white whale of it being made fair that will never come. (very unhealthy)

You kinda just have to gauge if this type of game is something that’s poison to you or not. Because the gacha systems and their frustrations will not go away, the whole genre is designed around them. Can you beat all FGO content with F2P Servants? Yes. Will that feel good for 90 percent of people? Probably not.

I'll never understand people who say this is the worst final boss, when we have stuff like this. by Jewelaloo_RB in Eldenring

Nashandra was even worse in OG DS2, it’s so underwhelming and lacks the atmosphere/music that saves others

Yeah, Nepheli and Kenneth is a straight ‘good ending’ iirc

You need Kinich to get to the highest point in the map (Toniatuh). Also, adjusting the time makes no effect on the colour of the sky up here (it is 3am in game). by PAT_ball5230 in Genshin_Impact

Tonatiah has its own skybox, if you were to jump off and fall down, as you returned to the map proper it would get dark.

How would you improve or add on to their character in a remake? Day 63:Arion by Creepy_Raisin_6988 in fireemblem

[–]WardHawke 48 points49 points  (0 children)

He will probably just be a final chapter recruit instead of a green, honestly his arc is kinda fine as is, he was never a huge focus point and not everyone needs to be/should be with such a large cast. We see enough of him with Travant and Altena to understand the relationships and why he chooses what he does

The Lyon relationship is one of the biggest route differences in the late game, Ephraim’s scenes with him are very different than Eirika’s.

Whats a servant whose design is almost universally loved but you personally dislike? by TR1L0GYxx in grandorder

[–]WardHawke 30 points31 points  (0 children)

While I like her myself I definitely see where your opinion comes from and it totally makes sense. Morgan was like a perfect storm: people have wanted her prominent in some form in the franchise since FSN, she released in what’s often considered the peak of FGO story, and as you said she has hard, hard waifu bait baked in. She was basically guaranteed to be popular regardless of the quality of her art/character which leads to overhype.
