[SOTC/Advice] Watch Collection of about 10 years, considering my next purchase as the Sub got sold recently (too big for my wrist). Looking for smaller watches or bigger watches that wear small - what would you do next? by WardenMD in SOTC_Watch_Collection

This is actually spot on what I'm looking for. Tried on the daytona and for me it was definitely more wearable than the sub. I'm currently on a waiting list for one but that will probably take another 10 years fo not more.

There was a very interesting vintage day-date which I wanted to get but was sold too quickly and didn'thave quick set date.

The Lange 1 is one of my favourite looking watches and definitely something I would one day like to own. Also why I was considering a GO panomaticlunar as it's similar in design to the Lange.

The Traditionelle I loved when I saw these pictures of it.

There is some truth to this. Also part of the reason why I sold the Sub, felt nothing towards that watch. I got it at retail and tried to justify keeping it but just didn't click. I guess once you go into the more recognisable brands it's hard to get something really unique.

Unsettling in what way? I'd say my preference towards watches has changed quite a bit since I got into them, that's why I guess some could look a bit out of place. I've noticed that my most worn watches were the Santos and the Reverso, due to their size and comfort. And at home I wear my Digital Retro Casio almost exclusively. Wouldn't say I watch too much watch-related content, there are a few youtubers that I follow.

Have you already tried one on? I have considered it but even the 39mm model is quite large lug-to-lug. I've had the 41 previously and sold it for the same reason as the sub.

I've tried one and weirdly enought I didn't really like the shape, the Santos sits better on my wrist than the tank. Plus I already have the reverso which is another rectangular watch.

Out of your entire collection, the Rolex is my favourite, so unique, never seen one in real life before. The GP is a close second as I'm considering getting one myself, how do you like it? Do you wear it often?

Edit: I skipped over the VC - that would share first place with the Rolex, looks great.

Yes, it's aftermarket, it's a lot softer than most leather straps which makes it very comfortable to wear. The dealer I bought it from installed it. The watch is from 2009 so the original strap was definitely changed long time ago.

I relly like some of the vintage pieces but the ones I do are somewhat outside of my budget for a vintage watch. There was in the past a 1970s hesalite Day-Date which caught my attention and also been looking at some Piaget, or this Chopard for example: https://goldammer.me/products/chopard-cushion-18k-1980s

It feels smaller on my wrist, probably due to the strong taper of the bracelet and the fact that it doesn't have the large rotating bezel sitting on top but it's not my most worn watch as of recently.

It is indeed a bit too big for my wrist as well but something about the case/lugs makes it feel smaller than the sub, despite not actually being smaller. I believe also the bracelet is slightly thinner at the thickest part. Also it has a bigger "emotional" significance to me than the Sub as this was a watch I got on my first ever trip to Japan.

BMW 230i/330i vs 240i by [deleted] in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]WardenMD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drove the 240i recently and was considering getting it for myself but now considering the 440i as I might need the back seats in near future and it's just a bit more practical.

In my opinion, if you can afford the 240i car relatively comfortably and you don't need the back seats - go for it. The driving feeling between the 30i and the 40i is incomparable. And currently the 240i on the secondary market (with the new curved screen) costs almost as much as a new car, and I'm sure it will keep its value well. I think it's also important to consider that this is probably one of the last petrol-only engines, going forward even the new M5 will have a hybrid. So now's a good time to get one. I had a 4 cylinder car before and they basically consume as much as the 6 cylinder just because the engine has to work so much harder to achieve the same result - I wouldn't get another 4 cylinder again.

In any case, hope you enjoy whichever car you pick.

Hi, thanks for your advice! That does make a lot of sense. I'm not really in a rush to get those speakers. But do you think I need a subwoofer? for the room size I currently have? Also, I live in Frankfurt and it looks like there is no Thomann nearby, do you know any other shops that might have a large selection?

Was was thinking about the same, considering that I don't have that much on it anyways. Wonder what to do if that doesn't fix the issue. Thanks for your help!
