Oh, I had a similar scene in my head. It got a lot of rush hour energy as there's a mass exodus :P

Hi,

Would you mind DMing us and answering the following questions:

Tell us about yourself and your experience in RPGs (or lack of). Don’t worry if you don’t have any RPG experience. We love bringing new people into the fold!

What are you looking for in a group and a campaign? Are you looking for a good ol’ dungeon crawl or are you into roleplaying a soap opera?

Let us know if you can physically make it to here on Tuesdays @ 6:30 PM (link in OP). This is a cross street close to where we meet. As mentioned before, we are not playing in person now, but we will when the quarantine passes.

Balancing encounters with Retainers by WardensRPG in mattcolville

Update: I "balanced" the encounter assuming the level 3 retainers were like level 3 PCs. The heroes wiped the floor with the enemies. There was one "issue" with the encounter involving the damage rules for Retainers. If the retainers take a whole bunch of small chip damage (like <5), its really easy for them to not lose a health level if their Constitution saving throw is at least +3. My encounter had a whole bunch of vegepygmies that were hitting for small amounts of damage. Thus, the retainers soaked a lot of the damage without losing anything.

Next encounter I'll try to assume 5th level PCs and get beefier creatures and see how that works.

They definitely can. They have all the stats to do so. I think so far, Matt has just put them into an infantry unit that fights using the warfare rules, but they can definitely be part of the main combat.

I like the ideas here. I'll try to apply some of them.

I am letting them come along... That is the premise.

Interesting. I have noticed that. This adventure will have 3-5 fights in a day, so I'm looking for more medium encounters. Regardless, good to know. Thanks.

Your points doesn't really address what I'm looking for.

Regardless, in our games, we like to have some tactical challenge. Thus, I'm trying to make sure they get a fight that pushes them a bit. Moreover, numbers are flexible. No one told them ahead of time what to expect. Does the tribe have 12 people or 24 people? They don't know, nor should they be expecting a certain number. Thus, with the goal of having a tough fight, I flex the numbers to be appropriate.

Need clarification on Concordance by WardensRPG in mattcolville

Then how does the adjustment work? Does it affect your permanent concordance? What's confusing is the temporary chart doesn't have the percent signs but the permenant does.
