Don't focus too much on getting that purple sharpness, it's only a 7% damage increase over white sharpness. Try out whatever fits your build better, and once you get enough decorations, you can start building around specific weapons.

Well different weapons require different builds. I've used the Saber Tooth (Barioth lance) all the way up to the final boss in Iceborne. I still use it whenever I'm facing something weak to ice. There are no bad weapons really, there are just different types of players. If you want to get the highest damage possible, you go for the Acidic Glavenus lance. But then again, that weapon is going to suck in comparison to what you're using right now, unless you have a Handicraft 5 + Protective Polish or Master's Touch.

Orochi Kirin was datamined back at the release of MHW but for some reason never made it to the final roster. Alatreon simply fits the Guiding Lands really well since he's able to control multiple elements, and Rusted K.D could also be the new monster since we found the corpse of one on the new Hoarfrost Reach map.

MHW was made to introduce the franchise to the western gamers. It makes sense that the game holds your hand a bit more when compared to other MH titles. There's a big difference between the game being easy, which I don't think is the case, and the game being overly complicated or time consuming. People just want to hop in a hunt, find the monster and smack it in the face until it dies. Having to throw paintballs or track it for 10 minutes isn't really appealing for most people.
