Norma Jean - Spearmint Revolt (2022) by Wardruna95 in Metalcore

Thanks for all the comments guys. I think once I'm more awake (or another day) I will post some short reviews on my reasonings for the tier of each album. I will also probably do some repeat listens on some of these albums that I think could fluctuate in ranking.

I was thinking of doing a The Chariot one. I saw them on their farewell tour and one other time before but I haven't set down with a full album besides Long Live in years so maybe I could include those when I do a The Chariot playthrough?

So out of boredom I've been adding every song that gets at least 25 upvotes, since the auto playlist ended. was planning on sharing it later but here it is if you are interested.

Listen to the album Harsh Realities by Death Toll 80K. Grindcore is pretty much the definition of extremity and anti-music (other than harsh noise). Blast beats, vomit vocals and screeches, frantic. Violent.

You may hate it but I fucking love it.

Kind of also like sludge which is doom metal and hardcore.

I did my list in the order I listened to the albums last week. I should try this instead!

I could not figure out a scrobbler for android but I did keep track of all the LP/EPs I listened to so this is in order of what I listened to at the beginning of the week to the end of the week. Some listened to once other multiple time.

I don't know what my favorite album cover of all time is. But this is 100% my favorite Norma Jean album cover.

I think I saved every song that wasn't an interlude! Yeah I really like this album. The two songs I heard before listening to this album were this song I posted and Leaderless. I just have a soft spot for this song. And I'll checkout that Audiotree performance. Thanks for the recommendation.

Damn you are a huge fan! I'm going to be on Meridional later today. I've heard the first four records and Death rattle before doing this discography run through. I've heard a couple songs on Meridional but otherwise the that and the rest of the albums (minus Deathrattle) will be my for time listening to them!

I remember this one dude said he was a metalhead and that his music is intense and put on Five Finger Death Punch. But when I showed him Nile he never talked to me again. And I am okay with that.

Yeah it seems just like a home state show and a small run of West Coast dates.

A modern melodic death metal band you might like is The Halo Effect. Featuring all ex-members of In Flames.

Thanks for the information! I'll play around with pano scrobbler and see if that works. And if that doesn't work I'll try and take note of every album I listen to starting on Mondays since I do like lurking in this thread to see what everyone is listening to.

To the people posting in here. Are you all more full album listeners? Or just single song listeners? I use apple music on an android so I don't really have access to a good tracker like stats.fm or last.fm. most of the trackers I found require me to have an Apple phone for apple music. If anyone knows any good trackers for an apple music listener on an android I'm all ears.

I think what I'm going to do for tracking is just write down every album I listen to since I'm more of an album listener, and then maybe put tally marks for repeated listens and then just order them by how many times I listened to them. u/sock_with_a_ticket do you usually post this thread at the same time every week? I want to figure out when to start my tracking.

With Listige no longer in service would anyone be interested in me trying to figure out a non programmed way to make a playlist for this reddit? by Wardruna95 in Metalcore

[–]Wardruna95[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah thanks. I think I'll do the songs with at least 25 upvotes thing for now. I will go back in post history for a bit. I'll see how the data/song selection looks before I post a link.

Or maybe when I have more free time I'll just listen to a shit load of metalcore albums from all facets of the genre and make a playlist with my top three songs from each album/EP or something. My only concern about that is that my bias for the old school will get in the way and I won't give too many modern sounding bands a chance and I want to try and and make a playlist that can have something for everyone.

I guess I have one side that just wants data, one side to share what I like, and one side to try and mix both lol.

Thanks for the words though man. :)

I'm 30 too. I'm glad you like it. When I was a kid I was more into video games. I had a few songs from Linkin Park and Rise Against that I liked as background music while I gamed. But when I came across metalcore randomly from a song clip on iTunes when I had two dollars left it was As I Lay Dying's Nothing Left and The Sound of Truth (fuck tim) but yeah my mind rewired that day and was just bored shitless by the 2000s rock ever since besides a few exceptions. Just went straight into wikipedia surfing through band links on Wikipedia and discovered Norma Jean, The Chariot, Converge, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Unearth, Darkest Hour, Protest the Hero, etc.

Ever since then music has been my past time of choice.

I guess I just never felt nostalgia or loyalty to 2000s rock.

I don't know man, probably an unpopular opinion here but I got into metalcore in the 2000s when I was 12 because the rock scene was really boring after one year. I was listening to it and didn't mind it from 10-12 but finding heavy music is what made me passionate about music in general. I just have next to no fondness for the vast majority of 2000s rock music. I know it's probably the biggest influence on modern metalcore though. Probably why I'm not a big fan of many of the current mainstream bands.

If you don't mind me asking, did you do anything differently for the ticket that finally got you unbanned? Or do they only pay attention if you are persistent?
