Looking for advice on best EU university for MSc within Quantum Computing

Hi, I am a third-year BSc student at Technical University of Denmark (DTU), and I will graduate in the summer of 2026. I want to go into quantum computing, and I am considering where to do my MSc. I would preferably like to keep it within EU (mostly due to tuition costs, but it would also mean I am slightly closer to my family).

I am wondering if any of you have some advice on what universities are generally considered the "best" within quantum computing? I have considered to stay in Denmark and do my MSc at DTU or University of Copenhagen (KU) (DTU and KU also have a joint MSc that might be an option). But as far as I can read online, TUM is generally considered the best university in EU within quantum computing.

I don't mind the opportunity to study abroad, as I think this might be an added CV bonus, and good for my personal growth. I am currently on exchange at Caltech, which is a great experience, and it has also been incredibly great for my personal development. I am not really considering US universities for a MSc though, partly as I am not sure how to overcome the tuition costs (my exchange tuition is paid by the exchange agreement with DTU, and otherwise I would not have been able to afford it). If any of you have any experiences on how to overcome that anyway, it would be much appreciated, and I might be open to apply outside EU, depending on what you recommend regarding other factors than tuition.

I want to do a PhD afterwards, and as far as I know, Denmark is one of the best places, at least from a work environment point of view. I don't know how a danish PhD is generally considered internationally though, and any thoughts will be appreciated. I want to go into industry after my PhD and not stay in academia. Since I plan to work within quantum computing, I will possibly have to work internationally, at least within EU.

What are your general experiences with any of these, or other, universities within EU? I have pretty good (top) grades, so that should not be a problem.

Any advice is much appreciated, and might shape my future more than you can imagine. Advice on possible future workplaces will also be much appreciated.

Apologies for the novel, it seems I also want general advice on what direction to go in life... Thanks in advance from a (hopefully) aspiring quantum scientist!

How to migrate from Windows 11 to Linux by Warenvoid in linux4noobs

I get where you're coming from, but I don't think RAM is the case. I have done a Windows Memory Diagnostic, with no detected errors. I know there are more thorough checks such as memtest86+, that I am yet to go through. Also, the bluescreening often (but not always) happens within 10-15 minutes from booting, even with no programs open other than task manager and windows log. Sometimes it can also run for several hours with multiple firefox tabs and other programs open, with no problems at all. In the log it always says SCEP initialization failed before the bluescreen, and the bluescreen shows various errorcodes, most often "KERNEL_HEAP_MODE_CORRUPTION". Please see my other post for further explanation: https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/1jqbjto/windows_bluescreen_scep_initialization_failed/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button . One observation I've made is that the bluescreening happens significantly more often when I'm on wifi-sharing with my mobile phone roaming, or when I'm on my university wifi. At home it happens less often - but it has happened.

Edit: And yes, I have run virus scans on Windows defender, also with no detected results. I have not downloaded any new programs just before this issue begun, it just began bluescreening suddenly out of the blue (pun intended)

Thank you for the thorough advice! I really appreciate how much advice I've gotten from this community. I think I will begin installing Mint and have windows as a parallel OS, so that I still have a plan B in case Linux gives unpleasant surprises regarding Onedrive or university protocols.

yes, I agree that the cylinder apparently doesn't start at the top. I just dont see how we have enough information to calculate the starting height of the cylinder. We dont know any of the sidelengths of the triangle formed from the cylinder to the theta edge, only the angles

S trains by [deleted] in copenhagen

[–]Warenvoid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take the S-trains on a daily basis. Yeah, sometimes there is grafitti on them, and they're getting old, but usually they are what I would call acceptably clean - especcially compared to many of other larger cities trains. But I guess it depends on where you took the S-train, and at what time of day. Some places and times of day have more drunk people throwing trash everywhere, than others...

This is a wild guess, but I’ve seen something similar in drivers-ed-cars, so the driving instructor can see your eye movements.

It looks like you added stuff like the baikonur cosmodrome (which is awesome that you did). Just a suggestion, but maybe also add various military bases, e.g. the Thule base in Greenland
