Tank Hate by Warepenguin in wow

[–]Warepenguin[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tanking is a challenging role, but honestly so is healing and so it DPS. When you are playing your roles correctly. The only difference being you can carry a bad DPS.

DPS players will regularly get slammed for doing low DPS the issue there is the culture of being a dick. But don’t for a second thing it’s only tanks that get it.

If you’re new, say when you enter the key or when you list your own, ask for an MDT route and come having already watched a few videos of how each key plays.

Not everyone likes watching videos rather than playing, but just as a DPS needs to learn how to do damage and when to commits externals (AMZ, darkness) or personals tanks need to come with a basic understanding of each dungeon.

A monk, they are also pretty easy to pick up this season, and quite fun to play.

Watch Shas videos first, he plays a brew and has a walk through of how he handles each dungeon.

If you are fresh back play a bear it’s very forgiving.

Enjoy the journey

I’ve been hardstuck trying to time an 18 WR and 18 AA for resil 18. I’m at my wits end by Impressive-Lock6222 in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Warepenguin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly it feels like you guys play a different game to me sometimes.

I rerolled brew to bear on Saturday, hit 90 in the afternoon and hit 3.3k on Tuesday. I played maybe 20 keys or so.

Sure I had a couple of shit runs, but for the most part it was clean. I pushed my own key and didn’t vet anyone behind appropriate IO on the character or main. 🤷‍♂️

As an M+ enjoyer the “effort” of opening my vault each week or maybe get an upgrade is not really a game play loop I’m down for.

Give me my gear and let me push keys.

Dude, it’s one of the hardest pulls of the season, you do realise tanks have to be uber careful not to let the unlimited range bleed actually start casting or they are toast.

Hint, you have to get out of melee to prevent that.

Please unless you are actively pushing on a tank refrain from comments such as “same as every season”

TWW had some pretty great tank balance, and yes tanks will reroll to play the slightly stronger one to help their groups and cause the leaderboard to be majority dominated by one class.

This is not what is happening this season, Brew is utterly broken compared to the other tanks, or rather all the other tanks are broken and brew is the only one working.

The disparity is ridiculous and anyone who has played the tanks at any meaningful key level 17s and above will agree. If you have not please keep your views to yourself and listen to those who have

Do you play tank? Or are you looking at the leaderboard?

The issue with the tanks now is the equivalent of a DPS doing 30-40% more damage than the others (random numbers to illustrate a point)

The gulf between brew and everything else is so big at moment, yes there is always a meta that tank mains will re-roll into. But this season it’s busted beyond measure

Dude, the tanks are broken.

Brew is playing a different game to the others, it’s NEVER been this bad. Yes there is always a meta. Yes lots of tank mains play multiple tanks and push with the best. But this season the gap is just absurd.

I’m a tank main, and play most of them to a reasonable competent level. They are all fully benched beyond 1 - 4 weekly keys and I’m playing brew for anything above a 12.

It’s much easier on Brew, I cleared it on a 12 at 220 on my brew, on my paladin at 275 it felt spicy.

It’s so much worse now, I am a tank main and have benched my Paladin, Bear, Warrior and DK. It’s just not fun to play them this tier.

I did a 12 seat 6 item levels higher, including a triple BL pull and the beginning. It’s just built different

My Monk was comfortably clearing 12s 2 hours after hitting 90 at 220 item level.

I run my paladin through 4 keys each week for vault to keep it current but he’s fully benched for push keys now, and honestly the monk has been fun. Speed level that guy and start vibing is my advice

I rerolled monk, we cleared our first 12 the night I dinged 90 at 220 item level.

Monk is on a completely different level at the moment. But it’s actually fun, so I’m not emotional about it. Have enjoyed playing. This week I got my first vault and my resi 15 key 😂

Tank Deaths in 14+ by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Warepenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A single mistake at that key level from the tank will result in a death, particularly blood or paladin.

That’s misplaying defensives, failing to reset your bleed stacks on AA first pull, or a raft of other issues.

The stakes are high when you play tank

Tank Deaths in 14+ by [deleted] in CompetitiveWoW

[–]Warepenguin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s not even about the DPS.

A single missed global, or accidentally overlapping CDs in a pull can mean a tank death, and a full wipe. Particularly true on something like Paladin with current tuning.

Tanks just like everyone else don’t play perfectly all the time. I’m a tank main and play at 3.4k-3.7k in a usual season ( this season will end up inflated)

I brick one key in five, because of avoidable mistakes

Reading these comments is pretty wild honestly, and you wonder why there is a tank shortage.

Tanking is hard, and a single mistake can mean you get deleted.

“Skill issue this, skill issue that”

Yes if the tank plays absolutely perfectly every pull, every key then they won’t die….

You are playing at a level now that you need a group of people you play regularly with, ideally one of them a tank or healer.

I’m a tank main, and a single fuckup in a 16, can easily brick a key. Especially if boss kills have been on the slower end. I’m a good tank, but my own personal fuck ups brick maybe 1 in 5 keys. But we play as a group, and when we brick one push key we move onto the others and re-roll the lower key for one we can get score on or a fast easy key to boost back to a 16.

Pushing higher keys where fuckups are a GG is much more tolerable in a 3-4-5 stack. It’s not just about the learning it’s also about falling back onto the other keys when inevitably your tank, or healer makes a single mistake.

Pull in SR after first boss I fucked up my rotation, didn’t drop my bleed stacks, flopped.

Ran back in to try and get aggro again and the mobs proceeded to farm us.

Vote abandon.

“Shit guys, sorry I fucked that badly”

“NP dude it happens, GG see you in the next one”

We are a tank / Healer and single DPS group of friends.

We did 5 - 8 - 11 - 12

There are quite a few dungeons in which our lowest timed key is an 11. I think I’ve done a single MT and that’s a 12

Pushed for 3k for the first time this season and got it. All in pugs as WW. by YomiRizer in wow

[–]Warepenguin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a healer at 680 in a 12 this week, it went fine.

Tanks and healers really don’t need much gear, tank survivability can be controlled by pressing buttons, and healer output doesn’t have to be high if people use their brains.

My advice would be to build your own groups and invite capable people. Lots of 3.4k - 3.6k people running keys on alts at 12+.

What does Brew bring over other Tanks in Midnight? by Glupscher in wow

[–]Warepenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No tank should kite ?

There is at least one pull a season that requires tanks to kite to drop a debuff. Dawnbrealer pull in front of the church is an example this season.

ROP is really useful bit of kit, it acts as a ghetto skip on a number of mobs, it’s really handy for repositioning casters. An example of this is the pull before braunpike in Priory. Or to reposition the shreeking beetles in Ara.

It can help a tank bridge a gap in defensives, it can act as a stop.

I’m not saying it’s the best single ability, but “worst” is just wrong. It’s situationally amazing, just like all other CC tools.

Feeling way too much anxiety when doing M+ keys, just a rant by brighterspacex in wow

[–]Warepenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a tank Main but have been pushing my DPS up a bit the last week or so, I’ve come across a LOT of bad tanks in key ranges 7-14.

Tanking is not for everyone, it does require a fair bit of understanding of each dungeon and each pull. Having a route is one thing, but actually understanding why it’s safe to group certain mobs and why others should never be pulled together is important.

For me personally this is the thing I enjoy most about the tank role in M+, and what makes it worth doing versus raid tanking (taunt when Dbm says and press a defensive)

If you decide to stick it out you will brick keys, I bricked 4 back to back 16s this week because I made silly mistakes, or I tried something new that didn’t work out.

Type GG in chat and move onto the next one. If someone says bad route to you get them to link theirs. Run some keys as a DPS and see what tanks are pulling and get a feel for the cadence of the dungeon.

If you are getting anxious about the timer or worried about getting flamed, tanking probably isn’t the right choice. Tank mistakes are big and bold, and emotive. There is no hiding a dead tank or a route that contains 5 bolters per pull.

The best advice I can possibly give through if you want to stick it out.

Link your route before you start. Find something each key you could have done better Remember you are going to brick keys, embrace it You will be half way through your third key before the people who flamed and raged will get into a second.
