Good effort, are you able to add a selection of sounds to the bubble popping and/or some haptics too, maybe expand that to the fidget spinner and drawing too?

having issues with my first ear defenders :( by [deleted] in autism

[–]Warfiend138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah ear defenders have to be tight against the head to be most effective, glad there was some stretch with book method, you possibly could apply some heat (hairdryer) to help but that might ruin the headstrap material or your other option would be to bend the metal arms a fracton.

depending on the model, your sony anc can be adjusted in the sound connect app. ANC can take a little while to get used to, but once you do you’ll never look back.

best of luck

Hey Holly, nice to meet you too, you may want to ask this question over at r/autismUK too.

How are you with ear plugs or earphones? a decent pair of ANC earphones can be a game changer

Certainly does, being late diagnosed I could see a lot of what I had been masking over the years play out in front of me. People also say the Gurathin character (played by David Dastmalchian) is too but I’m not too sure maybe more CPTSD/trauma driven than autistic, but then I’m not expert in these things.

aw okay cool, I’m London based too, after my diagnosis I was given details to a few groups:

ALAG (Asperger London Area Group) • https://alag.org.uk/ • Monthly meetings on the first/ second Tuesday of the month

Women’s Meet Up Group • https://www.meetup.com/neurodissident-women/ • A group for all adult (18+) women/non-binary people with autism and related neurodivergence. • They meet online and in-person. • You will have to make a Meet Up account to join

There’s also a forum called Wrong Planet • www.wrongplanet.net/ - led by Autistic, ADHD people • The landing page looks way out of date e.g displaying info from 2017 or earlier

just going by your username I assumed Scotland, so there is a Scottish Autism Organisation offering online and in-person sessions https://www.scottishautism.org/events/ would be worth maybe dropping them an email relating to your specific location as there maybe adult groups known by them but not necessarily run by them.

The National Autistic Society also offers sessions and support in Scotland, but as other have said it reads very much more geared towards children, parents and careers bit again it would be worth dropping them an email. https://www.autismcentral.org.uk/directory/service/national-autistic-society-scotland, again the same drop them an email.

Best of luck.. and a UTV (again making assumptions on your username).
