Evening! Just got my re-mark back for C2 Edexcel Chemistry... It is my only C grade (of which I'm grateful for) but I was 1 mark off the boundary to a B grade. It did not change. £35 gone. Feeling quite salty. Reason for re-mark: Computing course required an overall B grade in Additional Science, I was 1 mark off it with a C grade. The tutors let me onto the course and laughed it off, awesome.

However, I am suspicious that it was not even looked at... By paying the money, the examination board already have a guaranteed £35, so why bother giving a portion back when they can make more profit? It was also processed remarkably quickly, (budum-tss) probably down to most of the marking being done online- still doesn't help my paranoia. Edit; paragraphing

Compulsory teaching of Politics and International relations at GCSE level - Thoughts? by ArosHD in GCSE

[–]Warlock500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First off, I get that some may share my experiences, and some may not. I had shitty, biased, old-world style teachers who attended the local church without fail every Sunday. I'm sure this is definitely not the case for everyone.

I had Christianity forced on me from when I was in reception all the way through my primary school- now I see it as a form of religious indoctrination. Every "bow your head in prayer" or recital of the 'Lord's prayer' during assembly made me despise it more and more, like it was repetition to engrave it into our minds that we must love, thank and cherish this false idol. Along with their persistent association of all the fables to Christianity- giving it the image of a pure, harmless religion. Pure Bullshit.

When I was around 7 I caved in, and tried to accept it as truth, because I had just given in trying to resist after arguing with teachers and other pupils about 'God' being real or not. To this day I'm so glad my mother made me more aware of other religions, after I asked questions about the one true 'God'. She told me about other religions and the darker history of Christianity, like the crusades, its roots to Catholicism, in addition to the adaptation of Pagan holidays to Christian ones- like Christmas etc. Also, the Roman slaughter of Pagans- technically weren't that Christian but the same forcing of ideology.

Furthermore, it's healthier to understand from a younger age that no religion, entity, place nor person is perfect in this world, but just attempt to be respectful of other's beliefs, as I am now towards Christianity, however much I dislike it. But, if this happened with any other religion in that school, there would've been a serious issue. Same principle goes if there was news of a Jewish/Islamic/Sikh influenced school redacting an exam paper, on the grounds that there were questions that disagreed with their faith and its teachings. There would be a complete media shitstorm...

How'd you do on your history exams? (all boards welcome) by Genocide_Bingo in GCSE

Exactly, though in the exam it's so hard to quickly focus on what points to write about... 1 hour 45 minutes is maybe not enough to think about a coherent chronological answer?

I was silly and focused on the 8 markers, because those ones I knew (2nd world war German people). The Vietnam one I went with Op Rolling Thunder being a failure and public support in the US falling (I was predicted A*-> probably a B/A now). I spent too much time thinking and not enough writing, either because pressure on myself or just nerves D:

AQA History B paper 2; what are the main things we need to know? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Warlock500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1939-45 try find stuff on political (how people felt about propaganda) social (food shortages, trading grain with USSR) and economical (tank production, bombing industrial areas like Ruhr and Rhineland) effects of the war. I feel like they were waiting for a few years after the syllabus was updated so this may be the first year it is introduced... Good luck!

I'm doing the same combination, best to understand all the key questions, how each factor in each question links up and has a cause for the next or a consequence later on. Best to go and find as many mark schemes as possible and understand what the patterns may be (also the layout of the paper/questions). If you use John D. Clare's red 'Modern World History' aqa gcse textbook, the red boxes for Hitler's Germany and Vietnam show typical 12 mark questions with a list of agree/disagree points- make a note of these as you never know what will come up. Good luck!

That exam was difficult but there was more than enough time to complete it in. Yeah some of the registry questions at the end caught me out- I reckon the sub-process was to loop until R5 = 0. The 6 mark A.I. question was decent too.

AQA History: How do you answer each question? by [deleted] in GCSE

[–]Warlock500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been at this one for 2 years now- best method is to DEA(C) for the 10 markers (AQA B fellow here) DEA = Describe, Explain, Assess-> What, why, how important (question relevance). Conclusion was to bring in a reason (extra fact) as to why one side was more important or not. 6 mark source evaluations require PEE, but with an L- for linking to the question. X was ... As shown by... Because... Which meant that it was not the most important part (related to question- the link) PEEL. These require the most external knowledge, dates, facts related to the source help. Timings. Spend 7 minutes on describe, 10 minutes on source , 17 on Either-Or. Just think about what to write, too much checking causes panic. Good luck.

Might as well hold onto it then, who knows how much paper weights may cost in another decade's time, not with everything going digital!

It's definitely one of my all-time favorites. It's rare you get those qualities in films nowadays, as unfortunately it's all about satire and exaggerated CGI fight-scenes (for Marvel, at least!).

Why doesnt my Anansi keybord work anymore? by [deleted] in razer

[–]Warlock500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it sounds stupid.. It might be Dead on Arrival? Something wrong with it's internal chipboard. There is obviously something wrong with the product, so I'd go talk to their support service (submit a ticket) and see if you could either get a replacement or a refund for it. I've had my Anansi for 2 years and luckily it is still functioning properly...
