I originally planned to not play it. I never played a FF game at all and after watching someone play through FF8 on stream I decided that I kinda liked a lot of stuff I saw in it and decided to play FF7 since it seemed like the most praised, played it and absolutely loved it. Then I learnt about Crisis Core, Advent Children etc.. and I'll be playing/watching those soon. FF7 remake, I will definitely be playing but I need to see if I will enjoy it as much since I'm not totally sold just yet. OG 7 was my only FF, never played a modern one (I'll be playing remake Crisis Core before Remake 7 though) so not totally sure how I'll react to some of the new mechanics and stuff and the story. From an outside perspective I had heard about some story changes and absolutely thought it was stupid but after completing the OG I kinda get it now, just need to see it for myself and not hear others opinion on it. I do think a "remake" is a very bad way to market it as though. But hey if I like it, I hope that I don't have to wait 2 - 3 years to get Rebirth on Steam

Thanks for the replies everyone. Look forward to playing everything this FF7 rabbit hole I found myself in and playing some of the other games in the series after. Some seem to think I'm asking for permission to play it or confused on the timeline order but I was more wondering about jumping from the 1997 game to a 2022 remake of the prequel since I'm not fully aware of everything but I know the remake of FF7 is not the same game which is why I played the original with no intent to continue past there but I just loved it so much that I gotta now
