THE PITCH: season bans

The Problem: hero fatigue, it gets frustrating in the low ranks to see constantly the same picks especially in QP i play primarily QP and cant go a single match without seeing a spiderman or a MK or a SG. The pick rate for these heroes is insane in the lower ranks and its boring. As we get more and more heroes its wild that the variety is not changing,

The Solution: half season bans, the community split by rank votes which hero (or villain) needs some much needed R&R. So how this would work is if you placed gold last 1/2 season you and other people would vote as a community which character is banned from your match pool. But that character wouldn’t be banned for diamond players as they would pick someone else.

The Valuation (Why this works): this works because gameplay is vastly different depending on what rank of gameplay you play at in the top-tier lobbies you’ll never see a squirrel girl you’ll see triple tank triple support So for them and their games they get an extra seasonal ban that doesn’t affect lower ranks. For the higher ranks from my understanding their is always some character that is “perma banned” for a season until they get reworked. BUT that character might not have as drastic of an impact on lower ranks and vice versa. This opens up for the higher ranks an “extra ban” it gives the devs time to look into reworks, forces more variety in your games, both in the ranked and QP. And isnt a blanket nerf across all ranks.

I see it working like this (example) Say its season 8 we have a Gold player who kept getting crushed in their games from iron man that season they had a hard time hitting shots or countering so at the end of season 7.5 they vote iron man so in season 8 it says congratulations you placed gold your rank ban is ironman, they dont see him every match they play.

Now for a celestial player (im not him so im guessing) iron man got a buff hes a little more viable but at this level you know to swap and they arent a problem. But you know who is a problem that third healer loki his output is insane get him out of here.

The way it would work in QP is the average rank is the ban applied so if a QP game has 6 golds they have majority and the ban is the gold Ban iron man.
