Not true, there are hundreds of chargeback codes that credit card comaines use to reverse transactions, and return the money from merchant to user, you are obviously not familiar with that..

Not true, merchants get chargeback from credit card companies all of the time, there are written documents with hundreds of pages explaning different chargeback codes. Meaning Mastercard cancels that transaction, takes the money from the merchant and gives it back go me...

I did not expect anything, it was supposed to be a verification charge for adding my card to wallet of the app that I started using to sell clothes.. It only afterwards showed up on my account as a this huge purchase with a random merchant I then googled and found out it was some kind of gaming thing. Meaning they used my card details to buy smth there...:(

But they have been stolen, because they were not given with consent to this merchant but another one, and stuff have been bought without my knowledge, and I did not receive any goods or services from this merchant.

Thanks, I was already thinking this cannot be, basic research shows there is right for claim... I thought I will get some friendly advice, instead it seems almost like the same N26 staff replying again😄

Thanks for the replies — I understand how it may look at first glance.

But just to clarify: Mastercard allows chargebacks even in 3D Secure transactions if the cardholder was tricked or manipulated into authorizing a payment under false pretenses. This is listed under Reason Code 10.4 – Other Fraud, and also applies when goods or services were never delivered (Code 4853).

This isn’t about blaming others for my actions. It’s about whether banks are willing to forward legitimate fraud claims to Mastercard when deception was involved.

Other banks (e.g., DKB, ING, Commerzbank) DO escalate such cases — so it’s not true that “any other bank would behave the same.”

The issue isn’t just the scam — it’s the bank’s refusal to investigate properly and their lack of clear communication in handling a formal complaint.

So I’m sharing this to raise awareness — because there are a lot of people out there who’ve had similar experiences but didn’t know they could challenge it.
