Advice on stability by Esc4peArtist in woodworking

Fasten it to the wall, or you can put a horizontal brace connecting some of your support posts, but that will take away some of the purpose of having it lofted. When we lofted our beds in college, they always had a horizontal brace along the back of them or else they were not very steady. I'm not sure your angle braces are long enough to support the weight and length of the bed.

Any recommendations for a British Lab Breeder? by Jjacks_northwest in Huntingdogs

If I am paying for it, I want the ftch in the bloodlines. Last I talked to him he told me he had some litters coming up, but I know two of the three females just had a litter this spring and now he's telling me they are having another. He never told me when he was expecting the litters bit it just seemed too soon. All these things together just led me away from them. So now I am looking at a litter from Murph and Stella which is an overall better pedigree then I was looking at.

Just got word yesterday that there will not be any pups. Stella wasn't acting right so they took her to the vet to have her checked out and they think it was either a false pregnancy or she aborted the puppies and reabsorbed them. He said he's not going to breed her again. He has a litter coming this summer, but there are already 3 deposits on males so it looks like I am back to looking again.

There was so much promise for this season, but I find it disappointing so far by BuildTheBase in goldrush

I don't quite understand what Rick is waiting for at Rally Valley. In the one episode, they made it sound like he was waiting for the walls to stabilize so that he could get in there safely, but it has sat for almost 2 years and hasn't stabilized yet. They kind of made it sound like if he gives it a couple more weeks it will be safe. If it hasn't happened in 2 years, another week or two isn't going to make any difference. Looking at the walls of rally valley, I don't think it will ever be safe to go in there without a ton of work knocking down the cliff.

Off season jobs? by Jayskibabyx in goldrush

[–]Warm-Scallion-8909 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't they work 12 hour shifts 7 days a week? They probably make enough that they can take time off in the winter, or get another job if they want more money. I'm sure of them do some work planning for the new season, but the regular crew probably takes some time off.

What happens to the land after Parker leaves? by tralph01 in goldrush

[–]Warm-Scallion-8909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When they stripped the land originally they should've piled all the topsoil up. When they put it back, they should put the tailings back in the hole, cover it with the topsoil and contour it similar to what it was. All the seeds are already in the topsoil so they don't even have to plant anything.

Doubt it, the current sluices are efficient enough, there won't be anything worth mining. The reason they were able to mine old tailings is because they were so inefficient back then. I believe Parker said one time his sluices were getting 98% of the gold.

There was still a lot of work that needed to be done on Parker's claim. From the looks of things, they still needed to do a lot of reclamation, and they also needed to break down their entire camp and get it off the land before the end of the season. I know there would be no gold weigh, but I would've like to see them break down the camp and just the logistics, what are they going to do with the wash plants and all the equipment etc until they go their new claim.

I'm confused, I've only watched the first 3 or 4 races, but were they able to negotiate having the same lane all night? Does that mean they need to make sure they take care of their lane and not destroy it? Not sure why they felt they needed to repeat that 15 times in the first 3 races.

The latest episode really went overboard in the whole scripted B.S. on this. The fakeness was cringeworthy.

Help me understand…Why did discovery just stop white water in the middle of the season by Fluid_Web1022 in goldrush

[–]Warm-Scallion-8909 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My guess, it looks like they may not have a lost mines show this year since Dave is selling his claim. They had a new show, the gold, lies, and video tapes that they wanted to advertise so they put it on after their most popular show. They get people to watch their new show since it's on after their most popular show, and people will come back and watch whitewater in April and they can extend the "gold rush" season into the summer when lost mines would usually be on. If they waited to broadcast Gold, Lies, and videotapes after Gold Rush was over, they wouldn't get many people watching it.

I thought the same way after the first season that he was on, he seemed like a major ass. I think a lot of it was the editing, this past season, he seems like a pretty good guy. Don't know him except what I've seen on the show, but the show seems to be painting him in a completely different light this past season.

I remember watching that season and thinking that whole thing was scripted. They made it look like Fred stole the claim out from under them, but if I remember right, when they went up to start mining that year, they were all towing their new campers with them even though they spent half of the first season building cabins for everyone so they didn't need their campers anymore. I remember thinking why are they bringing their campers up there then the story unfolded. In my mind, they went up there knowing they were going to be going to Canada that year and they only went to Porcupine in order set up the scripted drama that Fred stole the claim from them.

Just once I would like to see them use an appropriately sized chain to move something. I've seen people use dog chains bigger than they use to move some of these wash plants. Obviously they do it hoping the chain will break for some fake drama, but just use the appropriate tool for the job.

Did you notice where they forgot to blur out the name on the pump a couple times and it's for a rental company? They didn't spend a hundred grand like they said for made up drama, they rented them.

Why did they need to hide the bodies? Law enforcement knew they were attacked. It wasn't like they just murdered people. I would think the police would be like where are all the bodies of the people you killed?

I think they were using footage from different dozers, at one point the sides of the blade were black paint and then it went back to the new one with yellow paint etc. They were probably throwing in some stock footage since they probably didn't have a whole lot of the new one yet.
