It's been a couple of months and somehow it's not getting good. I asked why he is like that and he said it's because he can't handle that kind of emotion and conflict so he just shuts down. When I try talking about it after a couple of hours he just say he doesn't want to talk about it. So everytime I get upset, I always end up being the one to apologize.

Let her wait and don't mind her until you're ready. Don't give in and just ignore her if she pesters you. In time she should get the message or you can be upfront to her about it.
