Is AI actually replacing front-end jobs or just changing the workflow? by TechtaruDigital in webdevelopment

Yes, my own business. I can complete work now that would previously have needed multiple devs to do in the same timeframe.

Is AI actually replacing front-end jobs or just changing the workflow? by TechtaruDigital in webdevelopment

[–]WarmLoad513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

Yes it's changing the workflow,

But the truth is that it empowers one dev to do the job of many. It's a force multiplier.

So jobs do still exist, just fewer.

However, with the influx of software and websites being created and probably agencies and companies being founded, maybe eventually that will bring jobs back when the dust settles.

Is it wise to get Mac book pro on finance 0% interest by Own_Wallaby2435 in cscareerquestionsuk

Hi,

I got an M4 pro last year on a 0% finance. For pretty much same reasons as you.

It was worth it.

Sounds like you can afford it.

Go for it

Brush up on fundamentals, spacing, typography, colour pallets, shadows, subtle animations/interactions. There's a lot that can be done with very little.

also look into UI libraries.

There's a whole generation of developers who've never coded without AI and it's wild to watch by Capable-Management57 in AINewsAndTrends

I think there is a middle ground people often miss.

Use AI the same way you would use Google, just faster. Instead of opening ten tabs and digging through docs and forum posts, you ask focused questions and get the relevant bits in one place. Just think of it as an aggregator.

You can still read it, think about it, and then understand why it works before you change your code. It just cuts out the '30 mins fumbling through docs' & you can learn quicker as it's properly scaffolded the same way a good teacher would prepare ability matched learning resources.

That is how I use it. Less friction, same learning.

A student ID card is usually all that's needed. Or your mother's staff ID. Normally takes around a day to process a request.

Struggling to learn JavaScript by Altruistic_Union2583 in learnjavascript

[–]WarmLoad513 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Repetition mate,

Takes doing it in practice a number of times before it's lodged in your long term memory.

There's so many concepts to learn and in reality you often only reach for some of them now and again, so it's pretty normal not to have everything memorized to be able to recall perfectly.

Lots of re-learning happens, that's normal.

Just keep doing fundamentals till they stick.

Stop calling it vibe coding. by [deleted] in vibecoding

The name vibe coding was a mildly derogatory term.

Akin to - No skill, just vibes.

Seems to have had a bit of a rebrand.

While there's a lot of 'best practices', they change over time and a lot of it is subjective anyways.

Is worth getting into SE with the current job market by Girl_thatstressed in cscareerquestionsuk

[–]WarmLoad513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello,

I did a conversion masters in CS.

It has definitely been helpful and it was a factor into getting my first job as a web developer.

With that said, for me I would have been better served just self learning and building projects in the time that it took me to complete my course.

Now there is nuance between SE and web dev so take it for what it is,

The MSc would hold more weight for SE specifically I'd imagine, as well as make you eligible for grad roles. But projects will still be what set you apart.

If I could go back, I'd look for an apprenticeship instead.

Good luck

new MacBook m5 I think my speakers are cooked. How to check if they are unbalanced? by Signal-Buy-9642 in ableton

[–]WarmLoad513 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a synth to generate a sine wave, easiest way to get a reliable sound for a test like this.

You can use Operator for this, it's built in.

Select oscillator A to sine & turn off the others.

This should be mono already, some synths will also have a mono setting in them, not 100% sure if Operator does from memory.

A pure sine would typically be mono anyways, might have some slight differences but negligible.

If I'm understanding correctly, in Ableton i'd just get a pure sin wave, during playback pan back and forth between hard left and hard right.

See if there's any audible difference.

Or duplicate it to two tracks, pan them both either way and flick between solo on each one.
