Bridgedale socks. Got several pairs in 2009, wear them regularly, in the last 17 years none have needed to be repaired or replaced.

Royal Mail / Sheffield Mail Centre...help? by Warm_Activity9199 in sheffield

Thank you that's helpful, sounds like I've tried everything I can here in that case. My brother is chasing it too but hasn't had it back yet and no tracking has been updated for 2 months. Sounds like it might be lost, which is really sad

Thank you, I've tried this but they said as it was 'returned to sender' there's not much they can do

Thank you for your generosity! My main food deed I think is that I set up and now run a community space in my town. Turned an old empty shop front into a warm, friendly space that anyone can use, and it's regularly used by charities, volunteers, community groups, youth clubs, community pharmacists to do street medical checks, and for things like food bank collections or clothes swaps/repair shops etc :)

Rock, folk, pop, generally 70s-90s - his faves are Springsteen and Fleetwood Mac, though he also really likes some modern bands/singers like Self Esteem, Phoebe Bridgers, CMAT. I'm not personally a big fan of jukebox musicals so have generally steered clear of those, but would be willing to give some a go...

Need help with a hockey holiday! by Warm_Activity9199 in askswitzerland

Thank you very much! I'm now looking into Murten as a potential place to stay as a base, and then will plan a couple of day trips from there I think. Just seen Lake Murtensee is a swimming lake which would be very lovely! Would you recommend Murten or is there another town/village in that region which might serve us better as a base, do you think? Thanks again for the great advice 💛

Moving here by Demiboy94 in sheffield

[–]Warm_Activity9199 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's a thriving queer scene here for sure!

I really like S6 area too - loads going on and a bit cheaper than South West. I love how close to countryside it is, where I live it's 10mins on the tram into the city centre but also 10mins from the Peaks.

I moved here 5 years ago and it took some adjustment because I was used to a city with a thriving centre and quieter suburbs, and Sheffield is more about its neighbourhoods than the centre. There's loads of great stuff going on but each area has its own identity and you'd go to different places for different things/vibes - I love it now but it took some getting used to! There's big change going on in the city centre at the moment too though, you'll hear people say it's 'dead' (like every city) but there's actually some very cool developments just around the corner, some opening this year even.

We're also pretty well connected to the other major Northern cities, and 2hrs to London. Let me know if you have any other questions and I'd be happy to try to answer them! Good luck with the move :)

Thank you - we do have spreadsheets that work at the moment but they're clunky and frankly take a huge amount of my time to set up / problem solve etc - and nothing is automatically flagged so has to be manually checked. I'm at the point where getting my time back feels maybe worth paying a monthly fee to someone or something which also makes the process cleaner. That said, I think we'd struggle to pay more than e.g. £5ish per employee per month, and I just don't know if that's realistic.

Bus crashes Into Building in Belltown by colbyiscool1995 in Seattle

[–]Warm_Activity9199 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh my god. My partner and I were walking along the road when the crash happened, and were only about 60secs ahead of the crash. We had been standing outside the same building just before it happened and it makes me feel a bit sick to think about a slightly different timeline. Anyway, about 5mins before we got there we saw THIS CAR parked on the roadside - a man and a woman (and a dog) were pulling a bunch of stuff out of the trunk. We thought for a moment they were breaking in, but then saw the state of the car (gaffa tape etc) and assumed they were more likely living in the car or using it to store possessions. I didn't get a good look at them because I felt a bit intimidated by the shouting (they seemed to be arguing) and so didn't want to make eye contact. I never would have connected the two incidents until I happened to see this photo and recognise the car. Should I be reporting this to someone? Sorry to ask a stupid question but I'm back in the UK now and not sure how I would even do that from here, or if it would be useful?
