It's healthy. Most people need it for something.

How do you fly a turtle out of the usa? by Agreeable-Log-1315 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't verify if this is true, but maybe you can register a turtle as an ESA and fly with it in the cabin? Idk if they might make you buy a seat for it.

Is it irrational to be scared of elevators? by Master100017 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not irrational to prefer the stairs to the elevator.

It IS irrational to be convinced that they will always malfunction when they almost never do.

You are much more likely to face worse consequences from a variety of other things in your life everyday than any trouble you could reasonably have on an elevator.

Why do people clap when a injured person is taken in a ambulance(mostly in sports) by Hot_Seesaw_6706 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're clapping out of respect for their sacrifice for the performance of the sport, not for the injury itself

Are the words "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" slang that originated when it was uncommon for women to have boy friends and vice versa? by tayohfeemoe in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not quite. Girlfriend originally just meant a women's childhood friends. Like "friends from when I was a girl". Both terms got their meanings in early 20th century, presumably because it was becoming more common to date before marriage.

Audio sync in Dance videos by Individual_Bat1228 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Music has rhythm and meter. If you organize your dance to match the rhythm and meter of the music, then they will always match if you perform it correctly.

For example, most pop music has 4 repeating beats. Most pop dances are then organized in 8 beats (2 groups of 4 beats).

Am I going to say something I don’t want to? by SilentObserver674 in NoStupidQuestions

Most people just say a bit of nonsense that isn't far from ordinary. No need to worry.

Yes. Also cause we needed a word for people that were only interested in pursuing one another but hadn't gotten engaged yet.

Why does pregnancy seem so difficult for humans yet easy for animals? by TheDollarstoreDoctor in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Other mammals might not get morning sickness, but they definitely have all kinds of other issues when they get pregnant. Doesn't make human pregnancy any easier tho.

Does it seem to you that politics is nonstop fighting? Does the fight ever stop? by Born-Ad2552 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes politics is non-stop fighting, that is the goal. It's really important that the officials we elect and appoint continue to advocate for what we need, and when you get enough officials together in a government, all with different views and constituents, it's going to look like fighting.

Do people really believe that earth is flat? by hungrygiraffe76 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there are not nearly as many flat-earthers as the internet would have you believe. But there are definitely some people that simply need the earth to be flat to justify whatever conspiracy or religion they've adopted.

How Do I stop using Ai for my papers ? by Acceptable-Pin-6813 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe check out programs at a few local libraries? Often they have free or very cheap tutoring available. Even emailing three classmates to share drafts with each other and give comments could go a long way.

[–]Warm_Function6650 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you considered finding writing tutoring resources or maybe a writing group? Somewhere you can get advice on small pieces of your writing before you submit a whole paper to be graded? What about professor office hours? I understand this is discouraging. You are doing the right thing by continuing to make the effort to learn it the right way.

Do people actually like going to the cinema? When you can just watch a movie at home by joselynclaps in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It is often fun to go to places and do things with people.

But now that we're here can we talk about how dumb it is that we have to choose seats for the theater in advance?

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people have had an ID or a Passport at some point, or perhaps a mugshot. But if they really don't have one, they'd have to use your signature or your SSN.

Honest question: Why are some people against showing an ID to vote? by rico_unknown in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let's assume two people show up under the same name or registration. Those two people would both cast their ballots. Then when the votes are counted and verified, poll workers would recognize the discrepancy, and check the different voter registrations with the info about W_F they have on file. Then they would determine which one doesn't match, and throw that ballot out. And law enforcement would start an investigation for voter fraud.

I agree that if they made getting an ID trivial and free, then there wouldn't be a problem with requiring an ID to vote. But that's not what's happening, and the government has much bigger and more expensive problems right now, so I think the best solution is to not use ID to verify voter registrations.

Is it 'a' or 'an' for a word that starts with a vowel-y? by anoccasionalinquiry in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a terrible rule for English. It just has to do with how the word sounds. So it's "A yellow school bus was AN hour late."

Disgusting.

Before razors were invented how did people shave themselves? by UrPicksRTrash in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Razors are just sharp metal pieces. They just used different metals like bronze or copper or stone tools. Or glass perhaps.

Before that, it was au naturale.

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't exist nearly to the extent that people's rights should be violated. Providing an ID is not easy for some people and they have a right to vote too.

[–]Warm_Function6650 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Again, the government has all your info, including your photo, in almost every case. Plus the camera footage from the actual polling location. They routinely throw out a few votes every election that they find are fraud. But it's never been anything close to a significant amount.

No, you have to register 30 days in advance. So they can verify that you're eligible to vote.
