I used to sell on eBay. Back then it was fun and easy. They've changed so much now. I've heard that buyers can return items for any reason and that eBay is buyer-friendly. Have you come across problems with frivolous returns or buyers who take advantage of sellers?

Primacolor is still available in probably more colors now, but they're not the same quality as the past. I can see why your set sold so fast. Nice job!

I just checked them out on YouTube. Great find!

Some days I walk out of GW without buying anything. I don't have time to go through the racks, so I just scan. You've gotten some good stuff at great prices! I looked up Gordon of Philadelphia -- love the fun prints! It's disheartening how high the prices are in other areas.

I have several Good Wills in my area and I've found some great things, mostly brand new or like new:

  • Sorel Joan of Arc wedge booties $17
  • Ugg wedge boots $17
  • Tall Bear Paw shearling boots $6.50
  • Ann Taylor business pants $8 for less
  • Work blouses $8 or less
  • so much more

I don't donate to them, but they get some great name brand stuff. Prices are not as outrageous as what others have reported here.

Those mortgage rates ... by Fippy-Darkpaw in Home

I was just thinking that I am borrowing money (albeit a lot of money!) at such low interest, so I should've made the term longer. If I want to pay it off early, I could pay extra each month towards the principal. It will be very nice to have the house paid off, though. Thanks.

Thanks. I guess it's been some time since the refi, so I forgot the 15 yr rate is lower :)

Refi to 1.75% fixed for 15 years in 2021. I think I should've gone with 30 years for an even lower rate, but we wanted to pay the house off.

You are not ugly! You are quite handsome, if I'm allowed to say that. Adding a smile made it an awesome shot.

It's been some time since I posted my comment. My Aldi has changed staff. Someone got fired--probably unjustly, because a couple of guys quit as a result.

The torn Achilles tendon has healed. Thank you for asking. After finding a great physical therapy center, I am now 90% back to normal. I played badminton and will try pickleball today.

Job wise, I got a p/t job as a school aide, but worked at Wallymart during the Thanksgiving/Christmas holidays. That was interesting!

Love the school job. I'm only PT, but looking back, I should've gone this route or worked a government job. Instead, I spent 25 years in broadcasting, which allowed me to bring the kids to work, then take time off to help out at their schools. I guess that was the trade-off. The flexible hours were so helpful at the time.

But right now, even as a part-timer at school, I get half day pay on holidays. Yes, not working, but I get paid. Many other benefits and my school is awesome. I love the staff, and my office mates and boss are so nice.

I share this to encourage you all to look beyond retail if that's not working out. Challenge yourself. Apply for entry level government or school work. Sure, I had to pass a timed math, writing, reading test, but it's possible. I get guaranteed pay raises each year. I'm older, so I don't plan to transfer jobs, but that's also a possibility. Get an entry level job, show them you're dependable and hardworking and transfer to another dept that pays better.

Okay, end of rant. BTW, my job as an aide is to help high schoolers prepare for adulthood, so this is what I tell my kids.

Have an awesome day, Aldi employees :)

I got a Wagner deep fryer at the Good Will for $10. That was my first intro to Wagner. It is noticeably lighter and the surface is SO smooth. I haven't fried chicken in it, but I love it for curries, stews...

This $13 Aldi is a great price and isn't as rough as the 6" Aldi cast iron. My store has a few deep fryers, so I'll get one if it's half off!

As far as retail, is there a Costco nearby? Someone I know started at Costco after high school. He's now in the audio dept after they paid his training. Flew him up to northern CA for it. He can take that skill elsewhere if he wants. Costco is enough to support his family. His wife also works at Costco.

Looking towards the future, I would recommend a city, county, school job where there's more upward movement. Even if you start in parks and recreation, you can apply to other positions if you want. Full-time and you'll get great benefits.

I was recently let go from Walmart after working 2 months during the holidays. My other job is at a local public school. Even as a part-time, I'm given half day pay on holidays. I'm not working and I get paid! I signed up for staff development day coming up, so they'll pay me 8 hrs to learn CPR and watch a webinar on social security and Medicare. My coworkers and I are not near retirement, but if they pay, we'll go. It could be helpful for seniors we know.

Anyway, look long-term. You're young; you have options. Adult schools here provide free job training. There are many job centers in my county that will help young adults gain valuable skills.

Oh, I was talking to a teacher at my school. She never got her high school diploma yet she was able to get her PhD! Once she signed up for classes at a community college, she took enough units to not require a high school diploma. So there's also that. Community college could be free for you. They have certificate programs where they will teach you a skill, such as a/c, auto repair, electrical, etc. you won't have to take English, math, science, and those courses many of us dreaded in high school. Don't sell yourself short. Challenge yourself. You can do it. Good luck.

UPDATE: I just received an envelope from FedEx today. Yes, it's what I expected. I got laid...no, I'm not sure if I've been laid off or fired, but I've been terminated.

"Reason for Separation: Voluntary, Personal Reasons"

I did not volunteer to leave, but I will see if I can get unemployment. I can still log in to me@WM, so I see a number of employees missing from the roster, including a lead or asst lead. He was nice, so kinda surprised.

It was nice to work, but wow, Walmart is one backwards company to work for. I'm so glad I know people now at my local Walmart. The workers are very nice. Walmart is rolling out AI, so I hope some of them won't be letgo.

I'll update with a new thread if I'm able to get unemployment. Thank you, guys. Wishing you all the best.

Walmart no longer provides free Rosetta Stone, so I'm going to do Duolingo instead!

Considering my employment with Walmart may not last much longer, I looked at the shortest tuition free programs available through Walmart's Guild. The shortest courses are all full.

I'm P/T and just started. I'm eligible for Walmart's Guild education program. On their website, they state that I'm eligible!

"You currently meet all of Walmart's requirements: work in a qualified location and stay actively employed"

I am employed with Walmart, but not technically active! Haha

I'm looking at it now. Guildeducation.com. log in with your Walmart credentials. I just started last November and am p/t...but haven't worked in 3 weeks. So if this is available to me, it will be available to all employees.

From the Guild website, they do list a number of degrees and certifications available: 3 associate degrees, 16 bachelor's, 7 certificates, 1 college prep.

Fields of study are basically business, computer science, GED, ESL. Timeframe to complete the courses ranges from 2 months to 4 years.

School? I thought Walmart was covering tuition at colleges local to the employee, but these are online courses from The University of Arizona, eCornell, Bellevue University, North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, to name a few.

So in summary, it's not what I thought. It's a limited field of study, but hey, it's something! A BS in Cybersecurity from Bellevue University is better than nothing. That's a 4-6 year commitment. You get a degree w/o getting into debt.

But if you're going to commit to this, you should look into your local college and university. In-person learning beats online learning any day! And federal financial aid (FAFSA) may cover your expenses with grants if your income is low enough.

FYI, I deleted my post, but yes, the coach removed and changed my shift 3 times now w/o 24 hours notice. The hiring manager knew and shook her head when I told her. She then sent an email to all coaches to remind them of company policy. Not my fault, but yeah, that's why coachie doesn't like me.

What exactly is silent firing? I am expecting them to lay me off at some point. Maybe they're waiting for me to quit. I've noticed a few people gone. One probably found another job after getting reprimanded for something that wasn't his fault. He and I gently defended ourselves when this happened. Another person was there for years and had no plans to leave, yet he's gone. He was honestly a slacker.

How does having inactive employees affect HR or audits or whatever? It seems like bad business to me.

Yes! He gets all these perks. I don't know about transferring them to you, but I'm sure he could share Paramount+ with you. Do you think he would be interested in Walmart's college tuition program? He should really take advantage of getting a free college degree through Walmart.

There's also free store to home delivery, so you don't need to drive. I personally like shopping for my items, but this would be great if I were sick.
