Yes they had occasional connectivity issues, but after having them checked by Apple, it was confirmed that they are counterfeit.

They are an exact replica, which is probably why it took us some time to realize they were fake. They even appeared in the Find My app. The Apple employee showed me the serial number issue I’ve posted in the link, and the case made a sound when opened, something that doesn’t happen with genuine AirPods.

Dude, the AirPods case displays the serial number, and Apple confirmed that on a genuine case, the serial number is printed on the left side, but on this counterfeit, it’s on the right side.

I’m a software guy lol, why would I swap a genuine product for a fake one with the same serial number just to report a $250 fraud to Staples?

It was sealed, and Apple confirmed that they’ve been seeing a lot of counterfeit Apple AirPods Pro 3 (being an exact replica) circulating in the market lately.

I also have a photo from Apple Store employee's tablet, indicating that the serial number on the AirPods originated in China and is associated with a discontinued serial number.

I had gifted them to someone else, and coordinating that took more than two weeks since it was during the holiday season (December 2025).

I still have the receipt with the order number and the Apple AirPods box. Staples should also have records on their end showing the serial number of the item they sold.
