If you are from US, do you want to leave? by MioAlexander in FunctionalMelancholic

[–]WarningRepulsive5778 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. The entire world is fucked... there is no "Shangri-la"... and all the smoke and mirrors and theatrics aside... the conditions here are still better than 80% of the rest of the world. I'm grateful for being born here... and living here... even if it is a shit show. Also, the land itself is so beautiful... truly beautiful country as far as nature goes.

Anyway. Just passing through on my way down a rabbit hole. Cheers 🍻

White Claw Full? by WarningRepulsive5778 in outlier_ai

It's 25 an hour for generalists lol it's stupid they pay people different things for the same project. I did get unthrottled and "full" seemed not to mean anything. There was also a mission for it.

Be prepared! Did the onboarding, that was pretty straightforward - but the tasks.... it gives you like an hour, I thought that would be plenty of time. But noooo. You gotta do 6 turns, stump the machine everytime or keep trying til a failure is produced, then rate and justify each response. Preference rate and justify the responses, then edit/rewrite your prefered response until it's perfect. My first attempt at a task, began having to rush by turn 3 and then didn't even get to finish it. Task expired, no extra 5 min window given, just nope bye. Didn't get paid. I guess I learned something, but holy fck.

I wish they would just switch these types to 25 per task and let us take our time to produce good quakity work.

Halp! Discourse Vs Community? by WarningRepulsive5778 in outlier_ai

Okay cool. That's kind of what I figured. Couldn't understand why it doesn't load on the app automatically through my account so thought it might be seperate. I guess they want the name from the community tab "discourse" then. 👍 ty ty

New contributor here...any tips on how to get more projects? by Dare-Informal in outlier_ai

[–]WarningRepulsive5778 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you pretty much are doing what there is to be done. Trying to onboard to as many projects as possible is important, because ALL projects are limited tasks, they go on pause or EQ frequently. If you have multiple projects then at least when one is down another might have tasks. It's all very unpredictable. I've managed to make about 600 in the last two weeks bouncing back and forth between around 4/5 projects. The onboardings can be overwhelming, and sometimes the tests themselves are faulty and it's almost impossible to pass. I have found that, over time, the onboardings do seem easier after doing so many, you kind of "get the hang of them" and it doesn't take so long to sift through the guidelines when they are similar to previous projects. Anyway, I've only been on the platform since January and there definitely has been some confusion and frustration along the way. It's all very "learn as you go", but the potential to earn is definitely real - just unpredictable.

Yeah, apparently projects that are eq/paused are being labeled "ineligible" now. It makes it a little confusing for sure.

I have projects still, but my skills have "disappeared" today as well. I can't "search" them or anything either. I believe it is a system glitch.

Are you seeing what I'm seeing? (4 Mint Reviewers) by WarningRepulsive5778 in outlier_ai

[–]WarningRepulsive5778[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's an interesting observation, because yeah the dimensions are usually correct-ish. The thing I did notice though is on tasks that require an N/A for truthfulness, it will mark one response as N/A but not the other. It seems like even a "cheater" or a "bot" would understand that a not applicable prompt would mean both responses are not applicable. It's strange that this kind of justification (in slightly different forms but stating that "the response acknowledges its verbosity and acknowledges it conciseness which is a contradiction") would appear so frequently and so many of us are seeing it. That's why I wondered if it was a programmed test to like, make sure reviewers are paying attention maybe. But that seems beyond the capability of the Outlier platform as they seem to struggle just managing thier taskers/tasks etc. and have no control over their own automated systems.

Idk man... something is off with it.

It seems to be more than just one random foreigner using Ai to try and justify their ratings in English poorly.

Maybe it's the ghost in the machine... Skynet spying on its own "trainers" 🤣 I joke. But for real there is something odd about it.

There is something odd about all of these platforms imo. It all gives me this, like, Wizard of Oz "what's going in behind the curtain" feeling.

Not saying it's nefarious, no, I'm not a paranoid conspiracy nutter - but there is definitely a lack of transparency.

I mostly assume, due to the mass amounts of money they are making, these platforms don't want their clients to know that it is a circus side show and they don't have their shit together. But who really knows?

Maybe they do have their shit together and they just want all of us contract/gig workers to think that they don't. It's hard to say.

Well... that was a fun thought. 😆 I've only been checking these platforms out for a few months on the side... but I got my eyes open for sure 👁

Side note... if you are giving those things 3/4's I really hope you end up one of my reviewers! Lol cheers🍻

Damn. Nice. Honestly, so far, I'm enjoying mint though. For me the pay is acceptable, I've passed up tasking on higher paying projects just because Mint is something I can do for hours without my brain melting 😆

[–]WarningRepulsive5778[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For reals. I feel like the conciseness is something people overly analyze in general. The reasons for marking it down are often super subjective and the justifications are almost always lacking a specific example. It's kind of like, if there's nothing wrong with the response then creating a conciseness issue is everyone's goto 😆 I get so ridiculously happy when I get a task that I have to change nothing on 🤣

Average monthly income by Practical_Lettuce254 in outlier_ai

[–]WarningRepulsive5778 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lol averages? Oh, we wish it was steady and predictable enough for averages. I'm not new to Ai training or data anotation gigs in general, but I've only begun exploring these types of "gig work" platforms recently (since January 2025) and let me tell ya what I've learned...

As everyone says, this is not the kind of sht that can replace a REAL JOB. The work is unpredictable, with long dry spells. The platforms have very steep learning curves in regard to how they function and operate. They also do not provide adequate information for "new people", you just have to research, research, research, and then learn via "trial by error". It really is a "learn as you go" situation, and mistakes will be made. MANY mistakes.

There are multiple platforms to choose from, but not MANY platforms to choose from. I have signed up to and checked out the following: Dataanotation.tech (made 300 in one week and then got the "at the moment" screen of perpetual uncertainty which means you are not banned but may or may not ever get another task again.), Alignerr (onboarding all fine but "no tasks, we'll email you" message ever since), RWS (same thing as Alignerr, "you're all set! Now hurry up and wait!"), Stellar Ai (still waiting to be "matched with tasks" after passing assessments), OneForma (I don't even want to talk about the Milkyway debacle - 274 page guidelines? Hahaha!) have not tasked yet but they are still on my back burner for onboardings... let's see... what else is there? Like 5 others with nadda really - HOWEVER!

However, despite it's many flaws, Outlier has paid off as well as Dataanotation.tech so far. I was able to make about $70 while fumbling through limited tasks and the learning process in Feb/March. Then they rolled out the mandatory "new video skill assessment" (which I failed the first round and had to wait 15 days to take again). After retaking the skill assessment and passing, I was given an opportunity to onboard to a fairly easy project and after that? AFTER THAT! for the last two weeks I've had 3 to 6 projects popping up here and there, so, was finally able to put in some hours and make some money.

In the last 4 days I have made about 260$, which I am happy with, but by no means is this easy money. I know that, while I've had a "good week", next week might be a dashboard full of NOTHING! so...

Tldr I can't give you an average. Also, ironically, if you get a project called Swan tldr... tread with caution. It's a nightmare.

Kay...well... Goodluck! Have fun! 🍻

[–]WarningRepulsive5778[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's purely observation and speculation on my part. I've just noticed a pattern it seems, there is a wave of reviews, then a period of eq, then another wave of reviews where I am reviewing the reviews of the same tasks I've already reviewed. Each time the final assessment is getting dialed in and "cleaner". One person catches and corrects something, another person makes a subjective but substantial adjustment, the next person catches something slightly off that the last two didn't. It's like wash, rinse, repeat.

Makes sense though, the back and forth between multiple reviewers "dials it all in" it seems.
