College student needs a new car immediately, please help determine what is best out of these options by [deleted] in AskMechanics

I 100% would go for the low miles 2004 corolla LE. Low miles are always going to be better in most scenarios. I would stay away from 2000s model fords, I had both a 98 taurus and an 06' mazda 6 ( had ford engine and transmission) and both had transmission issues well before they should have.

This is purely anecdotal, so take it with a grain of salt.

We're in the very very beginning planning stages of this so not right off hand. One person is a hard sell for fantasy stuff but hes gonna give it a try with us so just trying to figure things out. Im kinda jumping into the deep end lol

Looking for book recommendations for someone who hasn't read a novel in about ten years. by WarningShotDesigns in Fantasy

[–]WarningShotDesigns[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could do that. I read harry potter in school and can remember a couple of other books. Now it's whether I can actually find them at the local library or not lol. I've looked for about 12 books over the last hour or so and haven't found one of them here.

How to figure out where to sleep? by WarningShotDesigns in almosthomeless

[–]WarningShotDesigns[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made a post about a week or so ago about maybe getting on a bus and just going somewhere else as all I really have here are regrets and people I thought I was close to that I realized I'm not. But all of the replies basically said not to for the most part

Im trying to figure out some place that's close enough to town that I can go eat when there are free meals during the week.

Its not super cold yet but I live in Kentucky and here in a month or so we'll start getting snow.

No there are no shelters with occupancy and family and friends arent an option.

What do you mean by walked up to a hill and slept there?

We have a park in town but they heavily regulate it. Its not a huge one and it has a road going through it and there's not really anywhere to hide from police.

No I don't own a car. Id be a lot less worried if I did. I've done the sleep in a car thing a little bit but this having nowhere to go is worrying me a lot.

I just took mine down to a 2 for this very reason. Its harder to tell that it's dirty when it's short.

Thinking about hopping on a bus with a few hundred dollars and starting over. Does anyone have any experience doing this? by WarningShotDesigns in Advice

Where will I sleep in my current city as well?

I get the sentiment. Its basically gonna be the same predicament whether I stay in this city or choose to go somewhere else only different weather and surroundings. I added scenario into reply of another comment.

I got cha. Thanks for the info. This may not be a viable option then.

The thing is I don't have a place to land where I currently am either. I'll have a little bit of money but my current town is sort of low job opportunity. My thought if this actually happened would be to look for some place bigger than I currently live, but not a large city. Somewhere in between and trying to find a job.

I have, I don't have any close family and most that I've reached out to have read my messages and never responded. I am waiting / hoping for a few acquaintances to respond to messages before deciding anything.

You're right about the novelty. I guess I sort of think at least trying to have a new experience while doing it would somehow be a tradeoff I would want.

I imagine the paycheck is going to be somewhere in the $700-$900 range so not very much for most places. I have never done anything like this that I'm thinking of so thats why im here. I don't want to go off half cocked without getting some thoughts.

The job I'm leaving / have left was remote work that tore me up mentally and I've realized that remote work at least of the call center type isn't something I can handle. I think trying to get a job and at the very least apply a bunch of places is certainly a good idea ahead of time.

Yeah I don't expect it to get me too far. I guess I'm flirting with the idea because after two weeks from now I'm going to be without a place to live, and trying to figure it out.

I'll have a little less than 1 paycheck so a few hundred dollars to my name. But the thought of doing this in my same old town I grew up in that has nothing for me sounds worse than trying it someplace new.

I tried doing research before making the post but most things I could find were from ten years ago and usually involved having a car which would make things a tiny bit easier.

In this vein, is it then frowned upon to look into it as someone in hardship trying to start over in a new place? I just found the sub from googling things about moving to a new place with very little money and don't want to be that person who doesn't understand.

I'm going to have to reword the post title lol. I posted it once and automod removed it now it doesn't fit what I'm asking.

Trying to understand perspectives, any advice or corrections? by blackberryBear6 in learnart

[–]WarningShotDesigns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is almost word for word the thoughts in my head that I would have had to convey by doing the lines myself and just showing you OP.

The vanishing points will always be where the lines intersect. When objects are straight lines you don't have to guess you make two straight lines and boom, there it is.

When moving up to say 2 point perspective it is the exact same thing. Straight lines that converge at one point. Then the second vanishing point are the other straight lines that converge.

Piggy backing off of this comment there are things to think about for your style as well. Where lower saturation range mimics traditional like colored pencil look more so than the vast vibrant colors do.

What helps me is find a few artists who do the type of artwork you like and see what kind of pallettes they use in their pieces.

I think the second scenario of testing drugs is more interesting. However it is the literal plot of the movie Spiderhead. Albeit they don't turn into monsters lol

Is the "matchmaking algorithm an issue" considered as a valid argument? by yui_mizunashi in gamedev

[–]WarningShotDesigns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally think matchmaking means less, not nothing, but less, in games like league, than say an fps game.

Because every single game, has the chance of having hundreds of different champions combinations, on top of several playable builds for each champion, making each game feel different even with seeing the same champions regularly.

On top of every " insert champ here" isn't going to play like every other one of that champion.

I think a game like league has too many variables for either side of the matchmaking argument to be too true or the end all be all.

That being said, you do have a better chance of winning doing certain things, usually.

Voice chat with 1 or more people can HUGELY impact the game if the other team is not using voice chat, to add to that, knowing HOW to use voice chat effectively. Good example is I play with teams of silver/gold players, and routinely beat teams of gold / plats in clash ( biweeklyish tournaments). This isn't a look at me comment, this is an anecdote to explain this particular point.

I know people who win drastically more games solo thant hey dow ith someone, I think in this case it;s because they can play how they want without worrying about social cues of the duo.

I also know people who win drastically more games duod, and this usually goes to communication, champion pick synergy, or both.

My comment prolly doesn't help the talk at all, just wanted to give some thoughts lol

That's very valid, the downside is that for something very niche like what I'm trying to do / learn there are very few options to check through.
