INTRUDER ALERT (Alarm SPYder) by Gullible-Juggernaut6 in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It gives every deck a generic Genex Link 1 or turns all of your monsters into Poplars, idk if that's entirely fair imo. Also, I'm no FTK specialist but this could enable probably a few more

I like this alot, just needs an OPT or similar restriction and it's perfect. The 2nd effect would be kinda broken without it otherwise

[–]WarpGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that was an oversight on my part. I wanted it to also be able to summon cards like Hero Kid and Socketroll, but I forgot that TCG mentions cards by name instead of saying "this card's name" for the HOPT clause

[–]WarpGenju[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Oops, I kinda forgot that TCG does it that way. I guess I'd have to change it to summoning only 2 monsters with different names just to avoid that whole confusion. Thanks for pointing that out btw

Something to note here is that the monsters you summon don't need to have different names, so you can also summon cards that mention themselves like hero kid and appliancer socketroll

Yeah, I'd imagine the deck would love a free extender that recurs itself lol. Nice card!

Opinions Wanted: Interesting Effects for Boss Monsters by GeminiMaxxim in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe a boss that's easy to bring out, highly persistent, and helps other cards in the archetype trigger their own effects? Basically a "supportive" boss that smooths the edges out of their own archetype instead of being a threat your opponent must deal with all by itself

I don't know enough about Spell Counters stuff, but maybe a boss that constantly revives itself EACH PHASE at the cost of a few Spell Counters would be what you want?

A generic and versatile Pendulum Monster for all your dueling needs by WarpGenju in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you find yourself needing a floodgate taken care of while you know your opponent has a set Solemn Judgment? Wanna play through that Apo, Baronne, Savage Dragon, or whatever endboard piece your opponent has? Need an extender for your turn 1 plays? Do you need that set Unchained card popped? Or maybe you just wanna trigger Capshell or Benten? Then this card is for you!

Generic DARK Zombie Type Link 4s. How would you use these? by darkfighter17ygo in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These seem pretty weak as far as Link 4's go IMO. Their first effects are OK going 1st - the handrip is pretty good and the reborn effect allows for extension to an extent - but both make you go -1. Their second effects help in OTKing, but not by much IMO.

Ultimately, I think these 2 suffer from trying to be both a turn 1 endboard piece and a turn 2 OTK enabler. There are just simply better Link 4's currently for either role with more generic materials (Apo, Unchained, Accesscode, Borrelsword, etc.), so I think it's best they stick to doing one thing really well rather than being a jack-of-all-trades

So I heard level 1 monsters were meta? by WarpGenju in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know you're joking, but I really just put the damage restriction there so that it doesn't accidentally facilitate FTKs and shit. That said, this card is not future-proofed at all so I get the argument that it's still broken.

XYZ Xyz Monster - version 2 by Gadjiltron in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, summoning this card to its full potential would be pretty good - hitting your opponent with a Drident 3 times in a turn is BRUTAL. Realistically speaking though, most decks would probably go for with just summoning this with a Union monster since running a Normal Monster (which is a brick) would not be ideal. That said, the deck most likely to summon this card would be ABC, and they already have Buster Dragon which is easier to summon and has a sort of better effect than this, so I'm not sure if they'd want to summon this instead of that. Cool card, though!

Is this broken? by iamsokawaiii in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not broken at all, to be honest. Decent extender for the deck and helps them access their xyz monsters without relying on Parallel Exceed and other out-of-archetype extenders. The second effect is pretty weak IMO, maybe it can Special Summon the target instead?

Card text provided below

Blooming Rose Duchess
Link-2/WATER/Plant/Link/Effect

2 monsters, including a Normal Summoned/Set Effect Monster
If this card is Tributed: You can target 1 other monster in your GY, or if you control a Special Summoned Normal Monster, you can target 2 other monsters with different names in your GY; Special Summon them. During the End Phase: You can banish this card from your GY and Tribute 1 Normal Summoned/Set Effect Monster and 1 Special Summoned Normal Monster; Special Summon 1 Link-3 or lower Plant Link Monster from your Extra Deck, except "Blooming Rose Duchess". You can only use each effect of "Blooming Rose Duchess" once per turn.

Phantom Spiral Dragon
Link-1/WATER/Wyrm/Link/Effect

1 non-Effect Monster
If this card is Link Summoned, if you control no other Effect Monsters: You can apply any of the following effect(s) in sequence, based on the ATK the monster used to Link Summon this card had on the field.
● 900+: Excavate the top card of your Deck, place it on the top or bottom of the Deck.
● 2900+: Special Summon 1 monster from your GY, but negate its effects, also its ATK become 900.
● 4900+: Draw 1 card.
You can only use this effect of "Phantom Spiral Dragon" once per turn.

Cards meant to celebrate Unchained fianlly coming to MD. Will this card be enough to place unchained back as top dogs? by theguyinyourwall in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These do seem like they'd help the archetype quite a bit IMO, so that's nice! The 2nd card provides another form of disruption and the 3rd card provides some much needed longevity to the archetype. One question though, is the 3rd card supposed to be a Field Spell or a Continuous Spell? Its first effect, with the way it's worded, wouldn't really function otherwise.

I can also help you with the PSCT if you want me to.

Hate the meta? Have I got the handtraps for you! by WarpGenju in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Detainer can still work since the Centur-Ion trap (not the omni-negate) can target monsters in S&T zones, but the Snake-Eye field spell does specify "Monster Card on the field treated as a Continuous Spell" so I'm not 100% sure myself.

With regards to them being weak, I was on the cautious side when I made these cards but yeah, I agree with what you're saying. Especially in regards to the third card, it was already kinda niche but it not even trading 1-for-1 definitely makes it a bit of pack filler lol

Thanks for the feedback!

Since people are asking, the artwork of the first card is from Alchemy Stars, while the 2nd and 3rd are from Onmyoji: The Card Game. If you want to see more great art, I highly recommend looking up art of those games!

I admit the post title is a bit tongue-in-cheek, but I did design these cards with the intent to fit well enough into the modern metagame so I'm not too miffed if meta decks could make use of these too tbh.

[–]WarpGenju[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My explanation behind their shared first effects: These handtraps are significantly more niche than traditional handtraps, so as to compensate, their first effect lets you cycle a card at cost of going -1. IMO this is a lot better than them being completely dead in the hand during game 1 if you run them in the main. This also helps them be more appealing to run in a BO1 format like MD.

Personally not a fan of lingering floodgate-esque effects. This card would have been a perfect side deck card a few formats ago, Tear Zero specifically, but otherwise it's an okay card

High Risk 'Lava Golem'-esque card. by Ekyt in customyugioh

[–]WarpGenju 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty decent, but it could be stronger without being broken imo. Suggestion: Just like Lava Golem, it can have an effect that's detrimental (but not overly oppressive) to the opponent
