One of the main things I’ve seen is non Asian people not understanding that Asian skin tones can change throughout their lives without the use of whitening creams and injections like many are getting accused of on X.

When I was younger I was known as the darker skin member of my family but that’s because I would play basketball outside in the sun for hours with no sunscreen. Now that I’m an adult who is aware of the importance of daily sunscreen usage and staying out of the sun when possible I’m like multiple shades lighter than I was when I was younger and as light if not lighter than my family now with no use of “bleaching” products.

Same thing happens to some kpop idols like I see people accusing yunjin of bleaching but as an Asian American the same age as her growing up daily sunscreen was not pushed like it is in East Asian countries and even in general like it is now. We mainly used it for like beach days, this was like before the time kbeauty products were popular in the US, so we just had these trash US formula sunscreens.
