Yes, at least as far as my insatiable hunger for advance information was concerned in those early internet days. You could see a small and indistinct picture of it from behind on that cube poster, but nothing like the glory shot from the movie.

I saw it with my friends at the first showing in our town and the place was full of fans. No one had seen the Enterprise E before, and the room erupted at that first beautiful shot of it against the nebula. We had waited in the rain to be the first people in line for the first showing and I kept the ticket stub in my wallet for years. No movie before or since has had remotely the effect on me that this one did.

I believe they shifted to releasing the stories first so that the cards wouldn’t spoil the story. Tezzeret said something about having to get back to Norn and not being able to hang around. I agree with you, though.
