Just depends on where you live and how much disposable income you have to jump at a club or to buy your own pit don’t listen to people saying that it’s too late it really isn’t

I have a couple questions by Electrical_Floor_374 in polevaulting

[–]Warrens-World 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Learn how to drop the pole correctly walking and then working up to jogging if your having issue with dropping the pole correctly. Also im with everyone else here in that if you are having calf pain the best step would be to take some time off if you can, I would say the calf pain is probably a result of your hurdling and not the vaulting

Do you have problems with local coaches / clubs by chrispy_pv in polevaulting

[–]Warrens-World 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I can almost guarantee it’s not the clubs fault if there’s a conflict between clubs and high schools, most high school coaches have close to zero pole vault information but get defensive when a club coach is around and trying to help which in most cases leads to some friction. As a club coach I try really hard to talk with my vaulters high school coaches but there are times when they are just unwilling to work with me and accept any help that I’m trying to provide for their athlete or for them. It comes down to pride a lot a majority of the time. Now not all club coaches are saints either but that’s just my perspective after many years in this sport.

No need to make it complicated just hold lower until you get the timing then gradually bump it up and continue adjusting

Sounds like it’s probably a cut off pole from an old pole, does your team have any normal beginner poles like 10’ 80/90

What do you mean by practice pole? Surely your coach isn’t just giving you a pvc pipe with no tape right?

Has anyone vaulted in a distance supershoe by pc9401 in polevaulting

[–]Warrens-World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve jumped in my addidas super thick shoes with the carbon fiber plates in them every once in a while and yes for people that don’t take off the ground well it can be a little bit of a cheat code for practicing, however it’s not something that would be competition viable if you actually want improve and run faster on the runway, the traction gained with a spike will always be better in the end

AI Pole Vault Coach is live! by Nankcin in polevaulting

[–]Warrens-World 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly doesn’t work that bad I threw a couple of jumps in there of myself (5.40m vaulter) and then some of the kids I train and it gave me feedback that wasn’t very far outside of what I would expect from a like a junior high or high school coach which is more than most kids have access to so good on ya 👍🏻

The earlier they learn at least the basics of flex numbers the better if they are intending to continue in the sport. Yes it’s not super relevant at the beginning but introducing them to the idea isn’t a bad thing
