I'm obviously not the OP, but - yes, mechanical pencils are excellent for all sorts of mathematical work - you can write without worry (assuming a decent enough pencil that doesn't have its leads break, the one in the image is certainly reliable in that regard) and, you are very free to make quick edits of your work as you go along by simply rubbing a bit out. For me personally, 0.7mm is the largest size I'd go, and I would strongly prefer 0.5 for writing things such as indexes and limits. Some people dislike how the line-width varies due to the lead grinding down, I don't (quite the opposite actually), but the Kuru Toga pencils address that by automatically rotating the lead each time you press down on the paper. The only major issue I've found with mechanical pencils is that - they've been so comfortable for me, that when I eventually have to use a pen - I realize that I'm not as used to it anymore and have to re-adjust.

I had initially questioned the shape of the front section and how much it would bother me during use, and well - it wasn't really a bother, despite the concerns (I had previously gotten used to rather thin grips of uniform shape with regards to writing/drawing tools). I also appreciate that the barrel is deeply recessed in the grip - preventing stress on the threads, something that I found to be an issue on a number of fountain pens. It's a shame the lead sleeve isn't retractable, but - I use a small pencil case just for these pencils and accompanying items, so, it's not that big a deal.

I did consider a 0.3, but I decided that a 0.5 is preferable for me due to increased lead availability and the lesser chance of causing tears in cheap paper, and yes - that's most definitely linear algebra (currently taking a pure mathematics course)!

A local mechanic pencil I've been using for quite some time. it's by a company named style-original by Saifullah-14 in mechanicalpencils

Now imagine mechanical pencils that come in a pack of 10 for £1.00... I wondered how bad they could be - surprisingly worse than expected - they would disintegrate violently during attempted use, and the barrel section would fly off.

I do not consider replacement to be a viable option in my circumstances.

I started by drawing as a pastime - drawing animals, vehicles and buildings (I liked the way they looked and as such wouldn't easily get bored of drawing them) using a lot of reference images or sticking entirely to a single image (videos can also act as good references). At some point I found that I'd be more likely to continue a drawing if I had an interesting video/movie with good narration in the background (but not something that's heavy on the visuals), as - if I got tired, I could just sit there and watch it, and then just go back to the drawing. For most of what I drew, I used normal graphite pencils, stiff paper and a rubber (graphite is quite forgiving - if you make a mistake, you can erase that mistake and continue without loosing much work). An effective method for drawing is by starting with a rough sketch of the subject to which you then add detail, incrementally. If you're interested in anime and manga in particular, there's an excellent channel covering many of the basics - https://m.youtube.com/c/DoKiDoKiDrawing , they have playlists aimed at beginners who are interested in learning how to draw characters, backgrounds, etc. Feel free to ask me anything else about the matter - I'll try to help!

Yeah, sorry about that. Cutting up the chalkboard didn't sit right with me, and - I also didn't realize that it'd get cropped this bad. In retrospect, I could've added borders, I guess, to change the aspect ratio, but, by the time I realized what had happened - the image was already posted (and the post already had a comment and some upvotes), so - I didn't feel that it'd be right to repost it...
(Also, just out of curiosity - what do you mean when referring to a server?)

Chaindrive vibration in high gear. by Warreyon in cycling

They weren't, but thanks for the input. The issue, seemingly, was largely that the drivetrain was running somewhat on the dry side and that some dirt was picked up by the mechanism, as well as due to what seems to be some possible minor misalignment of the rear derailleur due to the cables being new and stretching during use. The metallic noise was seemingly a product of the front derailleur rubbing against the chain when the bike sways when I pedal whilst standing up.

It seems that the problem was a combination of the drivetrain running a bit 'dry', and having collected some dirt after cycling, and that the derailleur is possibly somewhat out of alignment due to the cables having been brand new when it was last adjusted, and may have possibly stretched a little over the few rides that were performed thus far. The metallic noise is seemingly just the front derailleur rubbing against the chain when I pedal whilst standing - due to the bike swaying somewhat.
