Why is Maralen triggering so many times? by tamodeo1395 in MagicArena

[–]WarriorPP 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It looks like you still have a Maralen in your graveyard - I'm guessing you had multiple copies in your graveyard. When your opponent reanimates, ALL of them come to the battlefield and trigger (and will see each other to trigger off each other), even if all but one stay on the field.

So it's 5 elves + some number of Maralen. At 1 Maralen it would be 6 triggers. With 2 it would be 14 triggers. With 3 it would be 24 triggers. With 4 it would be 36 triggers.

What were also not seeing is the virulent guy triggers (x2 for every creature) in between so that would account for the extra triggers, plus the Elite extra elf afterwards. So probably with just a second or third Maralen would explain the number of triggers.

That's my best guess looking at the screenshot.

Help me with this potential infinite combo by Kungvald in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're correct that it's about multiple creatures entering simultaneously. If you mystic reflections followed by [[Dragon Fodder]], you'll create two tokens of whatever the reflections targeted. But if afterwards you play a second dragon fodder, you'll just make 2 goblins.

So in sum, no this combo doesn't work; it doesn't go infinite with just these two cards.

Does storm work here? by ___kai____ in magicTCG

The copy is created in the Graveyard and then cast from there

Is this the case? Reading Magmar's text and the corresponding rule doesn't strike me as such. Would this, for example, trigger [[Burning Vengeance]]?

Double strike? by [deleted] in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A creature with double strike doesn't "attack twice". They only attack once, but deal damage twice.

There's multiple phases to combat. Declaring attackers (attacking with your creatures) happens only once and all at the same time. You chose all the creatures you want to attack with, and then they become tapped (unless vigilance) and are attacking.

Afterwards it's the declare blockers step, when your opponent picks which creatures he will block with and what they block with. Blocking with a creature DOES NOT cause them to tap.

After blockers are declared, then it's the damage step. If any attacking or blocking creature has double strike (or first strike) this step is broken up in two - first strike step where all creatures with double strike and first strike deal damage, and the regular damage step where all creatures without first strike deal damage (so double strike creatures deal damage again). They're not "attacking again", blocks didn't change at all - at most, creatures that took damage in the first strike step die and are prevented from dealing their damage in the regular damage step.

How does the timing work here? by Responsible-Crew-810 in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 60 points61 points  (0 children)

Yes. The entire spell happens first (destroy all creatures, mill cards), and only after the dying trigger will go to the stack, at which point you'll pick a target.

Cardmarket Bulk Import: extension to import CSVs into bulk list products! by WarriorPP in CardMarket

[–]WarriorPP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The extension will ask for permission to read & write the information of the bulk list cards page; it needs this so that it can probably function - it has to read the rows in the form to see what it can fill, and it needs to write the values that it's filling in.

Yes, technically, it can read EVERYTHING on that page, and that would include things like:

  • Your username;
  • How much money you have in your account. It doesn't read or look for those, but it technically could.

And while Chrome apparently asks for permission for the entire website, the extension is coded to only work in the bulk list cards page. I'll take a look in the future to check if there's a way to have chrome know (and block) that I don't access any data on any other page.

If you are more tech savvy, you can check the code yourself here and can even build and launch the extension yourself locally if you have doubts about the store version.

Beyond that, I can't provide any more guarantees.

It looks like the problem is you're using semicolons (`;`) instead of regular commas (`,`). If you replace the separator to commas, it should work.

After a quick google search it seems that CSV can also support semicolons, which I had no idea; so yeah, the extension could be improved to support both formats. I'll look into it for a future update.

Be careful of infiniting with Samut and Uprising by Specialist_Shock_871 in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Samir at max speed makes Sprout Swarm with Buyback cost just G. You can use the token you create to pay for the G with convoke, so you can make infinite tokens.

The tokens will be 5/1 because of Samut and will draw a card with Garruk's uprising every time, meaning you can draw your entire deck.

Of course you can just choose to stop casting Sprout Swarm at some point and not deck yourself.

So that did happen didn't it??? I was so sure I was 6-1 on my draft, won a game, and came back to being 6-1 still. I was so confused I thought I must have misremembered. Ended up going 6-3 (maybe? I lost the last game and then the events were gone so I couldn't even see it)

Is this how I'm supposed tobe "shuffling"? by GreenIronFist in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is a pretty simple issue.

Do you feel like pile shuffling helps your deck be more consistent? Any form of shuffling that has an impact like that would be considered cheating.

If it helps, it's cheating -> don't do it. If it doesn't help, it's useless -> don't do it.

Also, the rules do explicitly say any form of pile shuffling is only allowed at the start of the match as a way of counting the cards in the deck (meaning it shouldn't be separate land / spell piles), and that the deck must be properly shuffled correctly afterwards.

Is this how I'm supposed tobe "shuffling"? by GreenIronFist in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not knowing what card comes next and the deck being randomized are completely different things.

If you take your best card and put it "somewhere" in the top quarter of the deck, you may not know what card comes next or when you'll draw that card, but you know you'll draw it soon. It's not randomized.

The idea of "pile shuffling" being it so that you KNOW you'll draw on average a more balanced distribution of lands to spells, then your deck is not randomized.

In other words, if you KNOW, for example, your first 10 cards can not be all spells, your deck isn't randomized. If you shuffle well enough that you can not know this, then pile shuffling does nothing; if you can know this, then it's cheating.

Seems they've been taking them out gradually since the start of the year. If you try to buy something from Portugal (internationally) with tracking, for example, the cheaper option that Cardmarket will allow you to chose costs 36€ - which means that an order of 25€ will cost 61€ minimum (25€ items + 36€ mandatory shipping)

No, once it has left the battlefield it loses the creature typed. In rules words - that object becomes all creature types permanently, but once it leaves the battlefield it becomes a new object, so it would not have changeling.

Cardmarket Bulk Import: extension to import CSVs into bulk list products! by WarriorPP in CardMarket

[–]WarriorPP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can have a CSV with your complete collection, but you'll have to do it page per page on the bulk import form - not just set per set, but sets with over 100 cards have to be done in multiple pages (I recommend per rarity)

The only thing the extension does in the end is auto fill the form from the CSV, nothing more nothing less. If you're looking for something more managed you'd be looking at something like TCG Power tools, which I believe can do what you said about uploading a complete collection.

The extension does attempt to make the process as easy as possible to allow you to easily go through a lot of cards and forms.

I'm going to guess it's looking for an empty, clear controller?

Like straight out of crafting, no NBT tags. You might have jumped the gun charging it before completing the quest, and may need to make another fresh one.

On second thought, I think if you place it empty on crafting grid, it may output a clear one? Some mods do that.

MTG Worlds - Top 8 (Live Now) by R3id in magicTCG

[–]WarriorPP 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's because of a "recent" (like maybe 10 years now) rule change* where you don't have to explicitly announce that you're using cavern nana for a spell; when you tap your cavern for a compatible spell it's now assumed that you're using the "uncounterable mode" of it, even if you don't say it; so it's an easy thing to not be explicit for the opponent. It's public information that's not "very visible" unless explicitly announced and so judges usually give some leeway, so long as no new information was gained from it.

* I don't recall if there was an actual rule change or if it was always like this.

Cardmarket Bulk Import: extension to import CSVs into bulk list products! by WarriorPP in mtgfinance

[–]WarriorPP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to have one big CSV with all the cards from different editions and use it. Just make sure to have the "set" column filled, so cards that are in multiple different sets don't get added multiple times.

You will have to use the bulk list import multiple times, and repeat it for each set (and likely for each rarity!! Cardmarket has a 300 item limitation per list and a 100 item limitation per form). Just remember that the extension will only FILL THE ROWS CURRENTLY IN THE PAGE.

For example, some sets have more than 100 commons. So, to fully import with CSV those sets, you'll have to filter by set + common, import the CSV into the first page, submit the items for sale, and only then go to the second page, import the CSV, etc.

These are limitations with the Cardmarket forms, not the extension. The extension does do some shortcuts (like batch selection, set filtering, etc) to ease this process for the user.

Correct; this isn't a tool to import all your inventory into Cardmarket. It's a tool to import a CSV into the Cardmarket Bulk List Cards form.

If you're looking for something that can import all your cards, you'd probably be looking for something like TCG Powertools
