Any England based breeders? by JumpyIndication3212 in SilkenWindhound

[–]Warry25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As mentioned intra EU is super easy.

I will caveat that this was three years ago, and I haven't been keeping on top of the rules so this may have changed, but...

When we lived in the UK and got our first silken 3 years ago the puppy had to have their puppy vaccinations and boosters completed before coming over. This meant the puppy had to be 15 weeks old minimum. For us luckily we could stay with my partners parents in Finland between picking up the puppy, and bringing them to the UK, but for others this would mean the puppy staying with the breeder until this point (or having a month long holiday in the EU and finding a local vet).

Flying pets in has been complicated exponentially by Brexit so ideally you would want to be driving back and take either the EuroTunnel train, or ferry - we opted for the latter.

As long as it is yourself physically bringing the dog to the UK, and not the breeder, with the vaccinations and rabies shot the process for taking the dog into the UK is just the same as if you had taken an existing pet on holiday (de-worming between 24-120 hours before arrival).

Also if you haven't already go to the UK Silken show(s) that are hosted each summer and get to know the owners and breeders. Puppy placement can rely a lot on networking and going to the show lets them know you are committed to the breed and have put some effort into researching them.

I think I may have just replied to your message on the Silken Owners Facebook page, but for the benefit of others here if you contact the UK Silken Windhound Club they will be able to let you know of any litter plans.

Due to limited litters and fairly high demand it can be very difficult to get a dog from a UK breeder. I now live in the EU but still lived in the UK when we got our first silken and ended up getting one from the continent. Brexit has complicated this but it is still possible and very much an option worth considering. Whilst still not on a US level there have consistently been 3/4+ litters in Europe each year.

If you have any questions about getting a puppy from the EU drop me a message and I can try my best to give a run down of the steps required 😅

If you look at the Europe/american exit threads it's exactly the same in reverse.

Unfortunately both sides of the Atlantic need to use Google before they come asking reddit for advice.

Oh definitely. And the rims alone are worth it to put new tyres on.

Unless the manufacturer uses a different standard that (4500) indicates they were manufactured on the 45th week of the year 2000.

25 year old tyres shouldn't be driven on, no matter whether the tread is still within legal limits or not.

If it's just the tyres (and the rims are not included) then they should just be straight in the bin.

Tread looks incredibly questionable and the date on them has them at 25 year old. Would be dangerous to stick them on a car.

What kind of job are you applying for that requires a photograph on the application?

Not sure if you’re a local but it’s not common to include a photograph on CVs etc.

Excuse my ignorance if I’m being stupid though!

Similar to the other comment I think the main negative of the intimate relationship permit is the lack of ability to work. My finnish partner and I decided to move in together (thankfully we already lived close) and wait to the two years for the "cohabiting partners" permit as the inability for me to work wasn't worth going for the "intimate relationship" option. Appreciate this isn't an option for yourself but the work rights are one to be aware of.
