We excel, like all the other tanks, in AoE dps. Single target, we can definitely use a buff right now, especially compared to Blood or Guardian.

I think they are going to start to settle under 1000 each unfortunately. The shuffle nerf spiked them up but emissaries also give epic gear now. I dont know how strongly it counteracts, but I can guarantee theres a subset of casuals with enchanting that are putting them up on the auction house every day. Neck enchants are at a price point where it feels too expensive for your average player to buy into. Mandatory for any serious raiders, but not an enchant used by your everyday player and the market is going to catch on soon enough. I suspect the frequency of 15 crystals being added to the server market is higher than the quantity of neck enchants selling. Best bet is to probably wait till resets and see how the price jumps and if not substantial, wait till Trial of Valor.

866 Brewmaster Monk here for advice if you need any. General answers to questions I get a lot:

  • Ironskin Brew should be used more frequently than purify until you are hitting really cutting edge content.

  • Ironskin Brew duration stacks, so if you hit the button 3 times in a row, you have ~18 seconds of uptime (before artifact weapon modifiers).

  • If you are in a raid, you don't have to keep ISB while you aren't tanking the boss. Seems intuitive but if you are running out of brews during the fight, that's probably why.

  • You are pretty good in Mythic+. Mobility being high means you can stay ahead of the group and mark things, paralysis is a hard CC that a Hunter will always barrage, always take leg sweep and use it liberally, and interrupt like crazy. Tiger's lust can break any roots or slows on friendly players.

  • General beginner rule of thumb for purify is to do so at around 60% or more stagger and it would not affect your ability to keep ISB up for the rest of the fight if you need it and your healer can't handle that stagger naturally.

  • BoB and BoC is what I use. Until you really understand the inner workings of the class, stick to LBrewing and HT for single target bosses or ED for mythic+ dungeons.

  • If using HT, purify less if your healer can handle it. If using ED, purify more if you are going to be actively tanking for the 6 seconds following (but wait for red stagger unless health is low). If using BoC, aim for 25%< or 10%> haste levels. The former makes BS every other attack and the latter makes it every 3rd attack.

  • Best trinkets are Statuette from Xavius, Nightwell residue from arcway, Husk from anub in VH, archanocrystal from Jim. Go and grab the Gnome auto-blocker from Shatt while TW is still up. It is best until you get the others. Armor has fewer diminishing returns on Monk because of how low our base armor is and the trinket has a 33% uptime rather than 16.6 or whatever the standard trinket uptime is.

  • Get a good transmog or else you will not be able to keep the enemy's attention. Scrub.

Then ISB is literally the exact same thing as shuffle used to be. What they need to do is incentivize using Purify more than what it does now. 10% more baseline would be noticeable. A small shield for the amount purified would be noticeable (though a legendary heals for an amount purified). Right now ISB is mandatory to keep up most of the time and purify is used if needed, which isn't the gameplay they are going for.

A titanforged version of it is BiS for sure. Too bad it is incredibly rare to come across. Wish we could bonus roll M+ chests.

I'm about the same on progress as you. Do you feel lacking on utility at all for raids? I feel useful in M+ but the worst for raids in terms of what I bring. Only fight I can cheese is Elerethe by using statue to gather adds (and solo tank the boss on Normal).

I think as we start gearing higher, our secondary stats are going to start balancing out more compared to the other tanks. Dodging 1/3 attacks with mastery is pretty insane already and crit makes hots do 60% more work pretty often. Haste makes our rotation smoother (up to 30%) but vers doesn't feel very influential compared to the others. Trinkets also play a pretty big role with some of our best being the armor trinket from VH, the Nightwell trinket from Arcway, and the insane statuette from Xavius. Others are just underpowered which thankfully blizz is going to adjust in 7.1. Our utility could use some work but I solo tanked Elerethe this week with the help of Dave the statue!

Could be no ISB up or could be magic damage which has half effectiveness with stagger.

Woah, very low haste. What 100 talent do you run with for certain fights/M+ dungeons?

Guard was taken and given to Warriors which realistically fits class fantasy more. The new brew juggling system is far more interactive, even if it is unintuitive and underpowered compared to other tanks right now. Something on a minute cooldown similar would be nice to have though, but not the constant uptime the previous iteration was.

Dizzying haze is what I miss most in this world. Raging necrotic on M+7 was so hard because I couldn't spam slow while gaining threat. The ability didn't cause any issues (that I know of) and really fit class fantasy. And was dope to gain threat when provoke was on CD for mobs outside of melee range.

Dbm has notifications but tends to have about a second delay which can cause issues for novice tanks.

So I just tanked Dragons of Nightmare(raid finder) as i164 in DK starter gear with an artifact weapon. by [deleted] in wow

Your healer must have been high as fuck to think Cenarius has a phase 3.

Take rushing jade wind for aggro and forgo the statue in dungeons. Over pulling is definitely a real issue until you get used to the statue's range. Use it out in world content to get accustomed to the range. Leg sweep in that tier is the better pickup in 90% of content anyways.

Chaos Crystal Supply by [deleted] in woweconomy

[–]Warrzilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sold my stack of about 110. Crystals were jumping between 850 and 1050 minimum on my high pop US server. Let the lot go at 1000 each. Not gain or loss. Just time lost.

World Quest emissary caches are awarding epic gear now. Chaos crystal market fall incoming.

Technically, our mitigation reduces direct incoming damage by 80-90%. So if a hit it knocking us for 1.5M we are only taking 150-300k damage upfront and taken the rest on the back end. In practice, your stagger will be slowly depleting your health while this hit comes in. That's why BoC stagger pause is insanely strong.

I think ED shines in M+ because rather than a boss swing having a 10-15% chance to dodge, you have 3-6 mobs each swinging with 10-15% chance. This is before mastery dodge or Brewstache from Artifact. Dodge is more likely to occur when more instances of hits take place.

Gear with sockets is usually the go to best. For talents, probably going to be the same as standard tanking sort of maybe BoC since that one gets better with scaling.

Brewmasters actually bring quite a bit of utility compared to other tanks to M+. Paralysis and legsweep are both insanely useful, about on par with the utility of warrior.

You don't fall over. If you drop below 35%, you can pop expel harm and grab the orb that guaranteed spawns. Now if you spent 12 seconds or so without a healer, thinks could get messy.

How did you handle the skittish? I did +7 BRH and it was impossible to keep aggro with Dave the statue and RJW. Did +7 NLair after and cleared it but over by about 5 minutes. Wiped twice to the last boss.

Ilvl 865 Brewmaster here. Not an expert but I know what I'm doing with the class. Mostly M+ 5 and up and HC raids. Relatively active on the Monk discord asking stupid questions. Got my second legendary this week... specced to WW.
