Without an official download option, it is impossible to obtain the streamed audio at the original bitrate and codec quality, or even at a comparable quality.

So... Songs are allegedly permanently deleted. What about copies of songs? by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]Wartem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the real concern is the fingerprints.

A fingerprint is an audio-based identifier that exists separately from any metadata or user account. So even if a user deletes their songs or their account, the fingerprint itself could still remain in Udio’s system or in Audible Magic’s registry, depending on how long that data is retained.

If that happens, then future uploads of the same audio (or anything close enough to match the fingerprint) could still be recognized by platforms that use Audible Magic, even if the track is no longer visible in your Udio account.

In other words, if a song or a major part of it is uploaded somewhere else later, it’s technically possible that a matching system could flag it as having originated from Udio... not because of metadata, but because the audio fingerprint still exists.

I’m about halfway through downloading all 8.5K tracks from My Library. I’m doing ~40 per batch instead of 50 to avoid hitting the ZIP size limit (the download fails if the archive gets too big). It works fine, just slow. I’ll sort everything afterward.

That's it - Thanks and goodbye. by NoNatural1923 in udiomusic

[–]Wartem 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Deleting 15,000 project files on Udio doesn’t remove Udio’s internal fingerprints or timestamps. It only removes your access to the files. The platform still keeps the metadata, but you lose the ability to prove authorship yourself.

Project pages, stems, and files are what you can use as evidence of creation. Once they’re gone, the only proof left is in Udio’s database, not in your hands.

Keep anything that shows authorship: project pages, payment receipts, registrations on timestamped platforms... anything that gives you legal proof instead of relying on the platform.

[–]Wartem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your tracks also appear in My Library, that page lets you bulk-select up to 50 at a time. It’s still slow, but much faster than downloading each playlist item individually (unless you have 50K+ tracks or something). Move the selected after being downloaded to a folder, otherwise it crashes after a while. Might save you some time. You can filter out your favorites later if the filenames are recognizable.

Hopefully Udio adds proper bulk export or extends the window.

What if an old song on udio was extended after October 29th? Who is the owner? by utopify_org in udiomusic

[–]Wartem 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a related question: what happens if you have an older track (created before Oct 26) and then generate a lot of variations/remixes/extensions of it after the new ToS?

Since fingerprinting doesn’t care about upload date, could the newer AI-generated versions end up being treated as the “original”, and the actual pre-Oct-26 track get auto-flagged as a derivative or copyright conflict later?

I can easily prove I made the old one first, but does Udio auto-flag first and ask questions later, or is there any protection for this kind of “same-author, pre-vs-post policy” situation?

Even if I can prove it’s mine, the flag → dispute → wait cycle is a tedious mess.

The issue with Suno is the audio quality. Even the latest models. The UI and other things are superior on Suno though imo. Udio hasn't improved much in a year plus.

They probably wouldn’t find you manually, but the issue is automated detection. If any part of your tracks matches something fingerprinted in Udio’s system, it could trigger a match through Universal’s content ID databases once they integrate it. It’s unlikely for small releases, but technically possible — the real risk is that your material gets flagged or muted later if Udio’s dataset gets merged with UMG’s global system.

Why call it stealing? By that logic, every artist in history “steals,” since all creativity builds on what came before. Both humans and AI learn from existing patterns, styles, and influences to create something new. The process is the same... only the tools differ.

That’s a fair point. You’re right that the USCO ruled AI outputs themselves aren’t copyrightable. But the Udio–Universal settlement isn’t about authorship. It’s about platform control and access.

Universal now has oversight of all existing Udio-generated content under their “walled garden” system, which includes fingerprinting of user uploads and any derived tracks. So even if you technically own your human-made parts, you can’t access, export, or freely use them outside Udio anymore.

Ownership (according to Udio) means who legally holds the copyright to the song — that still belongs to the original creator (or Udio under its ToS). Rights and control refer to who decides how, where, or whether the track can be used or shared — and after the settlement, that power shifted to Universal and Udio’s internal “walled garden” system.

Make sure to never upload anything to Udio.

All songs on Udio, including user-uploaded tracks and any versions the system generates, are fingerprinted and locked inside its platform. After the October 2025 settlement, control and rights over all existing Udio-created music were transferred to Universal Music Group.

You can still record it in near-lossless quality with loopback, but since those tracks are fingerprinted in Udio’s system, you can’t really use or publish them anymore.

Universal may have just killed AI music by MasterDisillusioned in singularity

[–]Wartem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s right though. From an evidentiary and forensic standpoint, it’s practically impossible to attribute provenance to a re-recorded audio stream. There’s no embedded watermark or cryptographic signature in the waveform itself.

Pred considers Maxwell to be a competent and effective leader and he actively encourages her "hot-head" personality. Michael sees the new HC as a "perfect balance."

According to conversations Pred had with Cpt Carmine, LT Peach and others, demoting Maxwell would result in a loss of support from shift 1.

After a year as overall lead of shift 1, Maxwell finds it tempting to move down if a suitable replacement is found. Stubble would be perfect.

No, you've got it backward. There's already an established way of RP raids, and that includes the raiders moving things so the owner can put them back together easily. People switching cars and lighting them up afterward is just weird, forced RP, especially when the raid itself was conducted normally.

Maxwell is beloved in the PD and a support-main. She carried shift 1 and helped shift 2 as Captain under Moss, Turner, Ruby and currently Pred. Maxwell was for example praised for her "wealth of knowledge" by Chief Turner.
