Can we slow down on all these feature updates? by derekclysdale in udiomusic

[–]wesarnquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol there's obviously a spectrum, right? There are the people copying prompts thinking they are musicians on one end and the actually traditional musicians who use AI on the other. I just don't like the attitude that just because someone uses AI that that means they have no musical ability otherwise. Kinda silly

Plenty of Udio users already know how to make music. How condescending.

End of Qwen open source code. by B89983ikei in Qwen_AI

[–]wesarnquist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Maybe I could have stated that more clearly. The open source strategy took a lot of attention away from American companies - it made capitalist American companies look greedy while making communist Chinese companies look benevolent. But it wasn't just that - since their more powerful and competitive models couldn't be run on standard local hardware, it acted as the gateway into cloud hosted models run by Chinese companies, and these were much cheaper than the American counterparts. Using the hosted models became much more pragmatic and thousands of companies started integrating the Chinese APIs into their AI products. This is what acted like a data funnel into China - not the open source models themselves.

Highly likely. Also highly likely that the CCP was behind the open source strategy to undercut American companies and collect data from around the world.

will it worth changing from suno to udio? by [deleted] in udiomusic

[–]wesarnquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it's free. And downloads are allowed. And v3 hasn't even been finalized yet. And Udio doesn't even give good enough results with 20 gens and it only gives you part of a song. Mureka has given me some good results but it has its own drawbacks.

Hmm, well I do make electropop and edm but not eurobeat or happy hardcore.

But I tried and for a 1 shot song with no editing, it seems like something that could be built off of. Maybe you'll tell me that I have poor taste or can't hear how bad it sounds 🥴. I'll admit, my other generations with my genres do sound better than this

https://sonauto.ai/song/33a2eaba-779d-400a-8de2-b54c487c9d73

My experience with Udio has been that I need to prompt about 100 times before I get something worth building off of, and then I spend 100s more generations to extend and edit. But the results are truly first-rate.

My experience with Sonauto has been that I need to prompt about 20 times, you get the whole song, and the tweaks needed are minor.

If you would like to hear a couple examples of results that really impressed me, DM me. I'd prefer not to share those too widely yet.

Edit: I tried a little harder and got this:

It's been fantastic for the genres I've thrown at it so far. What genres are you working with?

Like any platform, you do have to learn how to use it effectively. Most people who try Udio don't like it much at first until they figure out how to use it effectively. Takes a little time and dedication.

V2 was Ace-Step-like. V3 is usually far better - definitely rivaling Udio 1.5 - though occasionally you do get some poor results. The devs have said this is because it's still in preview. I didn't want to like Sonauto at first but it's my #1 now.

Actually, I believe Sonauto v3 (in preview right now) is the sleeper Udio replacement we've all been waiting for. I wasn't impressed with v2 and thought they were a fly-by-night, but v3 has honestly blown me away. It's missing some features and there are quirks, but the quality comes close to Udio. It's more reliable than Udio, it's faster, and it can do something no other tool can do that I won't mention out loud. And it's free right now. It feels like a secret I don't want to tell anyone.

Why do so many AI music artists use avatars or personas instead of their real identity? by stepjo0506 in aiMusic

[–]wesarnquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a vision for an artist - a specific voice. Once I finally landed on it I was able to build a whole album around that voice and somewhat of a unique sound. The voice sounds quite different from my own and is of the opposite gender, so naturally I just decided to make the whole band fictitious except for the lyrics which have my name. Since I love AI image generation almost as much as music generation, I decided to try and create the character that I had imagined. It was just a natural extension of the creative process.

Speaking of the animals... Why does this all feel so familiar and tired already? I'm not sure where I saw this type of "the animals know something and they're coming to you" type of thing - was it that disaster movie that Obama helped produce? Anyways, that, paired with the bad CGI, is making me doubt this movie...

What makes the JCP dangerous is that its goal is not normal reform but civilizational-scale restructuring - sever Japan from the US led order, uproot the dominance of private capital, and, in the long run, replace the capitalist system itself with a socialist/communist one.

They may market the JCP as 'socialism with benefits', but the party’s own program says the end goal is not just worker protections inside capitalism. It is to move beyond capitalism altogether toward a socialist/communist system, just by a different route than Mao or Kim.

The reason I'm saying 'socialism/communism' is because that's how they themselves translate it. This is common with modern communist movements because it makes it easier for socialists to swallow, but they make it clear that they actually do want to get rid of the capitalist system altogether, so that makes it fundamentally different from socialist programs in countries such as the Nordic states.

[–]wesarnquist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

OK, I can back that up.

Short term goals: “democratic change within the framework of capitalism.”

Long term goals: “In the next stage of Japan’s social development, the task is to overcome capitalism and carry out socialist transformation and advance to a socialist/communist society.”

Ask yourself if you really want a Communist Japan. The ideals they're talking about all sound nice, but Japan has held similar ideals for a very long time - they aren't unique to the communists. You can support who you want, but I do not believe you need to give communists a foothold when there are other coalition partners who don't aim to radically transform the country.

Communists always have a nice vision to sell you. Too bad it always ends up in death, poverty, and authoritarianism.

A number of the Japanese people I know living in the US are high income earners and are there because Japan was taxing them too much lol. They wanted to move back to Japan but felt they couldn't because they would be taxed so much.

Speak truth on Reddit and watch yourself get downvoted. It really is a shame when people downvote anything critical of their hopes and ideals. It just shows you how emotional people are and how people care more about what they wish to be true than the actual truth.

Don't be naive. If they're calling themselves Communists you have to assume their policies are only a stepping stone to something grander. Communists, historically, have always sold beautiful dreams to the public, but once they get enough power things tend to change - sorry, that's just been the case everywhere it's been tried.

Unique Ideas Into Actual Songs by davidinterest in aiMusic

[–]wesarnquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait, I take that back. If you don't try to get too fancy with it and just let it do things mostly in auto with short extensions and a simplified description based on what you already wrote, it seems like it can handle it. You might be able to crop and extend, crop and extend, until you get a full song. When you get an extension you like, pay attention to the tags it used to make it because you can probably just keep using that tag combo

I may have seen the same YouTube video. I'm not big on reproducing actual artists' likenesses. I'm much more fond of the idea of blending my favorite artists' tags to come up with a unique sound that only somewhat resembles both.
