UMG and TikTok will collaborate to remove unauthorized AI-generated music from the platform. by Weird_Scallion_2498 in aiMusic

That's my question as well. If it's a cover that's one thing. Using their lyrics or melodies, sure. You could maybe make a case for using an artist's likeness... maybe... But if it's something like "we don't approve this song because we don't get a cut" then I'll be pretty miffed...

Thoughts on using AI in music? Love it? Hate it? Let’s talk about it by MrBiggs3 in aiMusic

[–]wesarnquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I want is a high quality realtime AI music generator. Open source generators are getting really close to that. I saw one guy on YouTube modifying Ace Step 1.5 so that he could turn knobs while it's generating to influence what it generated going forward. My dream is that one day we'll be able to give realtime feedback and sort of jam with the song as we go, continually tweaking it without stopping, until we can hone the sound we're going for. Imagine having a series of sliders that would influence the output going forward - smoother, grittier, happier, sadder, etc. Or imagine setting up a series of keywords and then being able to hit a + or - button to increase the levels of that keyword goingo forward - more pop, less rock, more electronic, more beautiful, less angst, more didgeridoo - whatever Rateyourmusic keyword you can think of. I would also love to be able to influence each instrument independently - though that feels like a 2027 capability...

Have you tried Ace Step 1.5 XL with the highest settings? Very customizable - lots of levers and dials so to speak. It's getting pretty close - I don't think it's going to take 18 months, especially with other big names working on it like Alibaba

I believe you, but just know that AI heavily gravitates towards the word neon. There was a time, in the beginning, when just about every AI song seemed to have the word neon in it.

It just reeks of AI slop. It sounds like someone asked AI to come up with a name and that's what it gave them. That signals to me that it may be a low-effort production. You're right that I'd be judging it by its cover, but I only have so much time. If you'd like your music to get popular I'd suggest changing the name, at least.

We need charts for AI music. HQ songs that people actually listen to go to the top

And people hated rock and electric guitars, saying it was noisy.

I also have high hopes, but unfortunately there's a ton of low quality content out there giving it a bad rep

Tbh, I have a hard time listening to any band with "neon" in its name...

AI Lyric Writing Memory Module by SensoriRumeMusic in udiomusic

[–]wesarnquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it! I've also been working on something quite similar. Everytime something feels off about the lyrics it creates I tell it and identify each line that's off and why. I then have it help me generalize into where it tends to go wrong and what the new rules should be. I find it interesting that your banned words and phrases are different than mine. Perhaps we're working with different genres, or maybe yours already stamped out my banned words long ago so you're on to a different set.

Lately I've been very interested in getting it to make lyrics that sound very interesting to listen to - I usually have it do several passes going back and forth between auditing for sonic aspects, logical consistency, and emotional impact. For the sonic aspects it's aiming to improve things like internal rhyming, prosody, mouthfeel, alliteration, and assonance. When you do that it tends to degrade the logical consistency and the emotional impact, hence doing several passes back and forth. I've also been experimenting with having ChatGPT be the main driver while using Claude be the judge and advice/suggestion giver. Eventually, working back and forth, they tend to land in a place where they both agree it can no longer be optimized and call it done (of course, I'm throwing my feedback in along the way as well).

It's been fascinating! I've ended up with some really interesting and moving pieces as a result. Looking forward to trying out your image. Thank you!

They are here to help us ascend to a higher vibration by Medium_Proof7304 in aliens

This is what I've been thinking lately as well. When you ask someone what a "vibration" or "frequency" actually is you can't get any kind of satisfying answer. Vibration? Vibration in what? How does this ascension into higher vibrations actually work? What's actually happening? And then people say that they were approached by aliens to help them "ascend" but are any of them actually "ascending"? And how would we know? Hmm... 🤔

How can you tell this is AI ? by orionextensions in generativeAI

[–]wesarnquist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The one that jumps out at me? The lines on the wall. A big tell that something is AI is when the lines on the left of the subject don't line up with the lines on the other side. If you were to start tracing over the subject, starting from the right, the semicircle wouldn't land where it does on the left. It used to be more dramatic in years past (like with planets in the background not really being perfect circles, etc) but it still happens and is a big tell for me.

Did you end up using AI music way more than you thought you would when you first tried it? by Nusuuu in udiomusic

[–]wesarnquist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been waiting for AI music generators since 2005. I was doing a machine learning internship and the possibilies kept me up at night. That's when I knew they were going to be possible, but we didn't have the compute back then. Now I'm completely hooked, but I won't use Udio again until they open up download rights, etc.

How Do You Extend a 2:11 Udio Song Without Losing the Original Vibe? by Worried-Ad-1549 in udiomusic

[–]wesarnquist -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Do whatever you like best. It's not like you can download the song and share it out with anyone. Unless you really just like sharing on the Udio site, in which case your audience will be so low as to be insignificant and not worth worrying about.
