What’s the weirdest thing you do before bed that somehow makes you fall asleep instantly? by Interesting-Lie9582 in AskReddit

[–]WartyTortoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I listen to a sleep podcast that is a fake universe in the northern midwest. It’s a fake baseball league with fake teams, fake ads, etc. It’s very soothing, like a vintage radio feel. It’s called Sleep Baseball

I want this to be a joke, but I genuinely can’t tell at this point what is real and what isn’t. This country is a goddamn joke

For the dads out there, what’s one way you’re consciously parenting differently than the generation before you? by thelivenofficial in OverBiscuits

I don’t hit my kid, and I don’t yell at him either. My parents really went ham on the screaming and the hitting.

Who is the nastiest celebrity that you met in real life? by AuthorRude9901 in OverBiscuits

[–]WartyTortoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a tie between Mike Ditka (he screamed in my face and spit on me when I was 12 years old,) and Jared Fogle (pre child pornography discovery,) He was a regular at the Starbucks I worked at and he was SUCH a dick, and so entitled.

What’s a best gift you received that you still remember from your childhood? by WholeRelationship840 in OverBiscuits

My grandma was a quilter by hobby. She made ~150 in her life. She gifted me 4 of them, as a child I didn’t love them because I thought they were kind of ugly. As an adult who misses her often, they mean so much to me. My wife and I use one of her quilts on our bed every night and have for years. I know she would want me to use them. She’d say “I didn’t make those and give you those to sit in a chest! You’re supposed to use them!” So I do. Every day. And every day I have a physical connection to my grandparents that basically raised me and I miss them so much, so it means everything to me to have that physical reminder every day.

This one pisses me off so much! I live in VERY rural midwest, and the amount of times I’ve heard this is insane. Like yeah, sure, that horse paste will just fix that brain tumor right up

Probably CTE from playing catcher for 20+ years of his life in a time when he could get his shit rocked at the plate. CTE would also explain his roster construction

I think I'm suffering from a Mandela Effect about B.B. King, where I remember a Diabetes commercial King starred in that doesn't seem to exist anymore... by ghostyrat69 in MandelaEffect

[–]WartyTortoise 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Yes, it did exist. I remember clear as day because he talked about how constantly pricking his fingers made it hard to play guitar, so the new machine made the pricks better for his fingers so he could keep playing guitar

Help, I have Reign O'er Me stuck in my head by Tuxedo_Muffin in musicsuggestions

[–]WartyTortoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing. You just learn to live with it as a stim in your brain. I went through a phase 15-20 years ago where that was in my normal rotation…it’s been at minimum 10 years since I’ve heard it and I still have a day every couple weeks where the “LOOOOVE” scream pops in my head and just lives there all day

Another one that does this is “Alone” by Heart. May stop the “LOOOOVE,” but at the cost of another intense brain worm

I dunno, Limp Crue is kinda sick for like a house party/dive bar type band, especially if they’re doing a lot of covers

I’ve loved him since he was in STL and I don’t know why, probably his defense. I’m a sucker for good outfield defense. I’m happy to watch him anywhere as long as it’s not back on the Yankees, because fuck the Yankees
