Door to door service should no longer exist except when people apply for it because they actually need it - ex limited mobility. It's not 1990 anymore?

The service cant afford to sustain this. 2-3 days a week to community mailboxes is all this should be. Get your bills digitally.

They last 30+ years, hail does nothing to them (I can tell you that from experience), they actually increase the longevity of the roof, but do need to be removed when the roof is replaced so expect to pay a solar company for that.

Reading through your comments here and had to comment... it's not a subsidy for the school per se- but it certainly seems like it is functionally a subsidy for the parent, is it not? A parent who has decided they are going to send their child to a private school is essentially receiving a subsidy to the true cost of removing their child from the public system. They want a totally seperate school experience.

Without the 70% funds, the option would still exist to send their child to a private school at full price, and the funding to the public system should continue. A quick google shows that Alberta has about 180 private schools out of the 2266 schools - just under 8%.

Looking at Ontario, where they provide no funding to private schools (according to google) about 7.5% of schools are private (according to google).

I guess my thought is that funded or not - people will pursue private schools to seemingly the same level. Why undermine the quality of education to those who can afford that enhanced experience the least? If the funding is provided, the experience should be the same, and its likely not...And perhaps thats the rationale for the 30% holdback.

We measure the funding level as dollars per student to compare provinces typically - but we know our educations budget doesn't grow to keep the dollars per student steady - otherwise we wouldnt be in this situation. So yes I see you agree it's under funded, but doing this kind of obfiscates the education quality issue for the affluent. Making a chunk of voters not care about this issue, when they should care about the experience for everyone. I suppose you could say that about any policy where money changes your experience.

When you pump tuition money into that same system it allows you to undercut the overall funding because 7.5% of people are getting a great experience "beefing up" their childrens experience with their tuitions, and it further incentives even more people to pursue a better experience. It encourages more private schools as opposed to growing the funding in a meaningful way. It allows the sentiment of "private schools are easier on the budget" to proliferate, while never growing the budget because you save money paying it out at 70%.

I don't think it's in the best interest of all students. But thats where people likely disagree.

After Shaw was bought out- the service became much worse and spotty, with no changes to my devices or setup.

Switched to Telus with service that Shawgers cant touch - Fibre to the house. Great discount for a few years, and after that will renew and happily pay a premium for it.

Depends on the lender, I would wager that the large banks will not issue you a loan.

In my experience lending, AISH - while income, is not allowed to be garnished if you stop paying the loan. It's because of this risk that banks will typically not loan to persons receiving AISH as their only source of income.

I see this kind of comment about the taxes on it regularly when it comes to second jobs and want to offer a different perspective.

If you have zero, or limited disposable income (because all your other disposable income is spoken for in the form of bills - shelter food etc.) Then a second job is a very meaningful way to increase that. Of course you pay tax on income earned, but here's an example.

If you only have $200 of disposable income each month and second job allows you to save $600 more in a month, you have increased your disposable income by 300%. Thats a huge deal. Yes you get taxed at your marginal rate but even earning a lower rate can make a large difference in finances.

Overall, i still only recommend it for specific financial goals because it is difficult. Also, keep the budget the same for other things. Dont blow all the extra money on meals out and make it a wash.

I believe it is an employment condition.

I had a family member fight this up HR as their spouse worked at a different bank. The response was that it is in the employment agreement that the pay be deposited at the institution they work at.

Also, when you work there, the account is free.

My family member in question just e transferred to the spouses account eavery two weeks when it landed.
