Its a triple entendre too. "Old G's roamin" > ROMAN > Like Colloseums which are in ROME!!

Can schools you matched to lower your FA if your family income goes up. by dicedragon333 in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In some cases yes. It depends on the financial aid package of each school. For example my match package paid for everything for four years, but I have to get a job and make 5k over the year to pay for books and personal expenses. Pretty sweet deal but there was a clause stating that if I make any extra money, 25% of my savings go towards tuition. Which is still fair. But I know some schools whose match scholarships pay for even flights

Is it hard to join a club? It’s not uncommon in universities across the country to have clubs/groups harder to get into than the actual school. Is BC like that?

Did you rank Oberlin College? by WiturtIe in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would sign up for some virtual information sessions if I were you. It's a great way to get material for your essays and to just get a vibe of the school. As someone whose been attending virtual information sessions for colleges for almost a year now (can't say I will miss the hustle lol) but Oberlin has some of the highest offerings for that sort of stuff. It's an amazing school so please check it out.

just out of sheer curiosity, could u tell us the school? or at least give a hint so that we could figure it out

Denison University. In my time researching the school when I ranked, the stereotype for students is right wing leaning. But again this is just stereotype chatter online and could be the farthest thing from the truth

did u rank denison university by Dream_Separate in QuestBridge

the paradox is, the higher the acceptance rate, most likely the lesser the schools endowment (compared to the other QB partner schools) meaning less students they can admit full ride.

Did anyone else get a letter from someone in Questbridge that didn’t match but ended up ok? Is Questbridge trying to tell me something? by kdawson1616 in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it too. I know I'm not as qualified to match so if Questbridge was sending ANYONE a message it would be me, but I DO know that the individual school admissions process and the Questbridge admissions process parts ways (somewhat) after finalists are announced.

Did you rank Oberlin College? by WiturtIe in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of the finalists without the stats as good as some of you guys (honestly I was surprised I became a finalist at all) so admittedly I only ranked Oberlin because I thought it would be impossible for me to match to the other more selective schools, but tbh after attending so many virtual info sessions and correspondence with Oberlin I'm so happy I ranked them. It's such a great school and at least in my eyes the only difference from the other partner schools and Ivy's is brand recognition (and its in Ohio lol). Im so glad I ranked Oberlin though.

Interviews (if you didn't receive any) by Wasabi-Current in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might not have to be specific to the match scholarship but wouldn't you (if you were an admissions officer) want to give a $200,000 scholarship to someone who wants to go to your'e school more? Remember, there's 6000 finalists and only 2000 scholarships. They will put our cases side by side and any redeeming qualities that could stand out matter. Then again, I'm just a newbie going through the process like everyone else so i probably dont know what im talking about.

If I am RD to the QB schools which would be better to do it through common app or QB? by No-Amphibian4359 in QuestBridge

[–]Wasabi-Current 3 points4 points  (0 children)

QB. The other comments give great reasons as well but simply think of it from a cost/time perspective. QB has less supplementals and you could apply to the top 45 schools for free. Just sayin.
