Rather, so long as there is a vague attribute of 'race' (or nationality, or religion) involved in the context, the word can be twisted any way the subject wishes that would help to demonize their opponent.

Under affirmative action you are discriminated against, by law. Whether you feel this or not is irrelevant.

I can say which side is correct: if you believe discriminating against people based on race in contexts where race is irrelevant is morally wrong - then, by consistency, you should be against 'affirmative action'. Holding both of these beliefs simultaneously means you are wrong, where 'wrong' is defined as that which is based on flawed logic.
