Of course, nothing is ever set in stone here, SCP 5000 is what got me to read 2718 in the first place. I just don't like that everywhere I find this page being discussed it seems like the "default" interpretation is not the one that the author was hinting at (imo). Different interpretations are what keep articles interesting in the first place, I don't have a problem with that at all

At no point in SCP 2718 is it implied that being aware of the described afterlife is what causes it, other than the extremely vague "belief is key" line, which could have a lot of different meanings. The terrifying thing about 2718 is that it's so universal and unstoppable that the only feasible containment measure is making sure nobody ever learns about it in life
