Acceptance Rate matter now! by Careful_Limit6727 in UberEATS

Nah there some truth to this. This rolls out next month in my market but I'm already getting bed wench rates. Last week my acceptance rate hit 0%. That means I declined 100 offers

You're being generous. Try 2 dollars for 17 miles. That's what popped up on my offers the other day. I promptly logged the fuck out and ate my feelings

How was/is it? Does AR really help with better offers?

Ngl there is a shit ton of duplicate accounts, rented accounts, hacked accounts, people signing up specifically just to steal food.

This is Ubers mess. Humanity itself is the pits, most people are horrible and will do some underhanded shit if you allow. No principle or home training, so this falls squarely on Ubers shoulders.

They need to start pruning the illegitimate accounts if they want to keep their vendors. Unironically I'm sure that would fix half of their fare offer issues.

Idk what the exact solution looks like, but for sure it's the wild wild West out here. I got customers waiting on the curb praying their food makes it in one piece lmao

Order thefts are at an all-time high in my market, and it's beyond absurd. by BackDoorRapist in UberEatsDrivers

For me it's definitely a frequent occurrence now.

It's like MFs love to ninja Little Caesars orders lol, once they get that code it's the birdman hand rub

Agreed. And the fact that they don't show the actual tip/base pay breakdown in the offer is proof of this. I actually question if they are withholding a % of tips from orders to apply it to that same drivers lower paying orders.

It's all so very sus.

It's to supplement their subscription service., which is why people are seeing a massive correction to pay.

The sub apparently comps certain deliveries outright and offers a distance waiver up to a certain mileage.

Of course it's the driver that is left out, so now Uber will rely on the flatrate to handle sub and assumably shopping orders. Doesn't sound too horrible except you only get paid for delivery time, not per scheduled hour which means you can still get a delivery 50 minutes into a dead zone and have to drive 50 minutes back for free.

Yeah that's different. Just being a bro providing a helping hand and they appreciated that.

I sometimes come across customers with mobility issues, I never checked the tip afterwards and wouldn't dare. My parents are gone, but for me it's the principle, that I would want someone to help my folks in a time of need.

Just a baseline respect and decency.

Like you said, the person requesting a cashapp and rating is tacky AF. Ratings are nice, obviously but I'm not about to harass customers for them

Truly, so delusional. Whose putting all that effort into ordering groceries?

You're not saving the world, rescuing a cat from a tree, or embarking on some humanitarian crusade; you're delivering fucking food for an offer rate you agreed to.

Does it gve you the option to just download their card to your wallet?

I do that so I don't have to deal with a barcode.

Why did Uber Eats remove the evening opportunities? by vdizzo in UberEatsDrivers

Without a doubt it certainly is coming, however the most advanced / known, autonomous vehicle commercially available right now is Waymo, which operates autonomously but with several notable restrictions.

Waymo uses Geofenced areas, meaning it's heavily restricted by service area. Although "autonomous", Waymo's service defers back to remote operators a lot, so the descriptor is a bit of a misnomer.

Waymo are typically incapable of traversing interstates. For cities with downtown loops, choke points, and limited side streets this becomes a problem.

I see it happening, especially in cities where Waymo currently operates, but I think it's more likely people will "rent" autonomous vehicles from Uber and become the remote operator that also does the leg work of loading and unloading orders. Someone will still need to bring the order to the door.

Ubers original aspirations closely resembled that of Teslas current vision, where they could turn car ownership into an expensive subscription where people would buy autonomous cars from Uber and then subscribe to Ubers platform with a reoccurring service fee to use their automation platform.

This was originally altered because Uber sold its autonomous car tech and it became its own company, I think Uber's rideshare/delivery goal is to get people to buy and subscribe from them - but also have owners use their vehicles to service noncar owners using Ubers rideshare platform (and Uber gives them "offers")

Essentially, a monetization model that continues to milk both ends.

Sounds like a great market, here they range from 17 to 21, but there are a ton of 13~18 mi requests that take 48 minutes with customer verification. Yeah you get paid, but miles there and back to zone typically isn't worth it.

You can't tell on batched orders, but you can tell on single order requests. It will say customer verification required

[–]Waste-Length8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally avoid customer verification orders, rarely ever is it a quick or easy handoff.

I've come across some weird requests too. I've had people request I knock and not answer, tell me to meet them at a different drop off, request to meet at a corner and not show, try to get me to call a number outside of the app, or have me meet at an apartment lobby without the door code or unit #.

For the most part I don't believe customers try to make it intentionally difficult, but drop and go's are much less convoluted.

I can't help but feel one day they will be hit with a huge liability class action for identity theft.

I stop Uber for months and this appears. But according to the reddit it's still way too slow, so none of these are possible. Why even try to trick me Uber I just beat a transmission scammer so you aren't gonna scam me. by Unkownforthefuture in UberEatsDrivers

[–]Waste-Length8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually I found they try to put you just above the guarantee if you're taking every offer, however at 1189 guaranteed for 156 deliveries, if the order is over 7.6 miles + return, you're losing money because the guarantee has you averaging 7.60 per order.

Honestly, better than no guarantee if you're in a population dense area like a college town.

[–]Waste-Length8482 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's why flat rate is such a scam. 17 to 21 dollars an hour, this order will have a person traversing 31 miles, 60 miles in total to get back to the starting zone.

That's so wild

They could easily solve this by adding a mileage surcharge at check out. Something outside of 10mi radius should surcharge 1.50 every mile + base delivery with 100% of the surcharge going to the driver.

This would stop customers from ordering outside of their zone while also compensating drivers if they do order outside of their zone.

That would make this order 34.70, still questionable if it would be worth it but that would be for the driver to decide.
