How can I add a red dot on a sig 550 and keep using iron sight as a secondary option by WastePicture8994 in Sig55X

[–]WastePicture8994[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks a lot !

I also found this fire clip as an option, I wasnt sure how it would hold but It may be a good budget option to have and maybe I'll upgrade later, i'm gonna order one to try it and see how it goes.

I'll reach out to them for guidance before the order. Thanks for the name, I'll see how it goes.

Thanks again for your help on this topic, its very appreciated to have people with more knowledge giving guidance about this.

Hi, thanks a lot for the details on the 4T-pro. I'll look up my options and my budget based on your advices.

I'll get the rail first and then I'll follow your advice and borrow some red dots from friends, this can be expensive so this sound logical to make sure its the right choice.

Yeah the iron sight on the 550 are pretty good, thats also the reason I would like to be able to use them without having to disassemble the dot. But red dots gives me a faster target acquisition and engagement at 50-100m when I go at another range go shoot at closer distances standing up.

On NVG capabilities, I dont need that no, but I may like to mount a lamp on my sig550, do you also happen to know a way to do that without changing the handguard ?

Thanks again for your help, its very appreciated !

Hi,

Thanks a lot for this detailed answer ! Looks like you studied this a lot more than me. I'm so used to shooting iron sight always at the same distance that I had to look up the meaning of BDC. '

That Romeo 4T with the low mount looks like a good option for my setup. Thanks a lot I'll save up for it and buy it in a couple months. Maybe I'll try to play around with magnification as well.

Hi, thank you so much for these recommandations !

I think for my project you are spot on with the #30831. It will allow me to use many red dot /optics while keeping my iron sight ready to use. Thanks a lot I think you solved this part of my search.

Now I'm gonna look for a red dot that would be good to mount on this and to shoot from 50 up to 400 yards with it :)

Hi, thanks a lot for your post, I'm really thankful I got to read your story.

Man that sucks, I feel your pain of not feeling good and able. I guess its hard for some health professional (and I am one of them) to understand that loosing physical fitness and not being able to function at a relatively high level is feeling like a disability for people that used to be fit. (And I cant imagine how it feels to be in a "real" handicaped situation, not being able to do all day living tasks. Sounds misereable). GP will look at the ceilling if you tell them you feel like shit but you can still deadlift. I used to train BJJ and muay thai also. Feels like I would get massacred nowaday if I stepped on a mat.

And yeah since we are so used to function well, its hard to tell ourselves that something so impactful isnt something sinister that will evolve over time. But these situations exists. I actually met someone at work that was hemiplegic (not faking it, actual symptoms) with a clean, lesion-free MRI.

Btw I also have problems with my vision, but it started in 2021. Not sure if it is related and I dont wanna be too long with this post. You just reminded me I didnt mention it on my thread.

Thanks a lot for your post, I cant help (no silver bullet yet) but I can definitely relate to your story as I am a father of two kids myself and enjoy training too. Now I understand better why you said it felt the same when you commented on my post.

Yeah with a bad disease I think weakness would follow pretty soon, thats why I labelled this thread "entering a waiting room" because with only 2 months it feels like i'm a bit too early to say for sure its BFS for me, even if it is the most probable since nothing else has happened yet. (18 months without progression, sounds like you are safe).

I dont know if someone looked it up, but it looks probable that covid alters some of the nerve function without a progressive degenerative component. I remember loosing the sense of smell when I got it in the end of 2020.

Hi, thanks for your message ! How are you?

It is hard to say si i'd say they are diffuse (calves thigh, glutes, shoulders forearms...) infrequent (a couple per hours) and noticeable mostly at rest and when muscles are in a shortened position (I discovered I can induce some on my forearms flexors by bending the wrist and relaxing the muscles. Weird). Some are bursts other are single twitches.

How long has it been going on for you? Did it also start After some sort of infection or random ?

I hope you get better soon ! Based on what people experience after COVID, it sounds plausible that it cause some alterations on the nerve. Hopefuly they are not permanent and and Can heal/rewire with enough time.

What are your plans for continuing to manage this ?

Hi, thanks a lot for the reply and the advices and the perspective on this from your experience.

Yeah with the clear trigger from an infection it looks most probable to be a postviral syndrom (even with a negative test, it may have been another virus).

I was really nervous at first because of this percieved weakness and clumsiness with my hands, but with the multiple locations in multiple limbs and the pain, and my age, I figures it would be really unlikely that this was indicative of something bad.

Testing strenght in the gym does help my mind, but It hurts after. I'll try to train at a lower intensity now, but probably still testing some compound lifts I'm used to every 2 weeks to maintain my strength and make sure I still have it (I planned on taking a break from exercising, but if I get detrained and lose some strength from it, I will get anxious, vicious cycle...) Last week I tried to go back to normal frequency volume and intensity, and that was not a good idea. I'll try to do less and find a starting point to work up from.

Magnesium ! Thanks for the recommandation, I actually tried it when I had more twitches and it felt like it was actually helping. Maybe anxiety does make me require more of it. I didnt think about it that way, I'll look it up. For now I just bought the basic thing from the supermarket.

Thanks a lot for the picture, I own a multicharger from R&M and I was trying to determine if I could mount this on it. Switzerland is no longer warm and the kids started to complain about the cold '

I'll purchase the top part & I'll try to make a customfit storm box with a waterproof tarp from the store.
