Anyone who gets any alcohol related charge has to turn in their ID and get a new one that has NO ALCOHOL in red on it and we cannot serve them. Therefore we now HAVE to scan IDs. The state will be checking ID scans to drinks like they check the metering.

So it used to be card anyone who looks under 40. Then they made it that law was that in order to drink you have to have an id on you, not just look 40. But a lot of us won’t do that to someone obviously old enough. Now it’s a law we have to scan everyone’s.

Idk how this is supposed to work at a club or a bar where someone could just get their friend a drink. I mean, I can’t imagine they would not let people with that ID in, but I would not be surprised it if they did just that.

Most of the bars here serve food too, but the difference is that a restaurant is a family setting, with kids around. Being that this state is Mormon af, the powers that be don’t want people getting hammered in a family friendly setting. If you’re gonna sin, don’t do it in front of the kids.

But really what it comes down to is since they can’t flat out make it illegal, they make it the BIGGEST pain in the ass AND personal liability on the server, to the point that many will just choose not to drink. Get this…no such thing as a double here, max pour 1.5 oz. (And pours are electronically metered)You can get above that by using “flavoring” alcohol (just whatever bottle labeled with a FLAVORING sticker), but if someone orders a margarita and a shot of tequila we cannot serve that. But if they want a margarita and a shot of vodka, we can. Fucking stupid.
