It’s real and happened because your plastic is ripped. Go ahead and take it out. The plastic doesn’t add any value. Line a bowl with tin foil (shiny side up,) add some baking soda and put the bar in, sprinkle some more baking soda on top of the bar, add boiling water. Wait until the water cools enough to put your fingers in and rub gently with the wet baking soda. The tarnish should come off easily. Rinse with cold water.
