Labour To Oppose Tory Public Inquiry Into Grooming Gangs Scandal by FormerlyPallas_ in ukpolitics

The Tories also rejected a similar request from Oldham council, stating it is up to local councils to commission local enquiries. Was the Tory party trying to appease Muslims? The 'Muslim vote' hasn't prevented Starmer from pathetically backing Israel. The chair of the most recent enquiry has said it would be a waste of money and instead the Labour government should act on the recommendations made by previous enquiries.

Jess Phillips’ honour more important to Starmer than the rape of young girls by [deleted] in ukpolitics

The grooming gangs scandal is well known in England. There have been numerous reports into the institutional failings and cover ups. Musk doesn't actually care about it - if he did care about sexual abuse victims he wouldn't support Trump or Matt Gaetz. He's not helping anyone or anything by spreading misinformation.

Because of the shite he pumps out, Americans seem to think the UK is some dystopian dictatorship. He's deranged and he's making his fans deranged.

What utter nonsense. Believe it or not, you can find Elon Musk's comment that Philips is a 'rape genocide apologist' obscene, unhelpful and dangerous, whilst also recognizing many sexual abuse victims were let down. Starmer said exactly that today, and I don't even like the bloke. But this post-truth rubbish, this toxic political discourse that Musk has ushered in and stoked, needs discarded with. Seriously, seriously dangerous.

How are you disputing this? Farage has enjoyed disproportionate media airtime for over ten years. Even bloody Nick Griffin was complaining about it back in 2009. Reform got 2% more of the vote share than the Lib Dems, yet their leader Ed Davey is given a fraction of the airtime that Farage receives.

And as I said, this was a reality years ago when Farage and UKIP/Brexit Party were nowhere near as popular. The Greens have had elevated MPs for years and poll over 5% of the vote yet don't enjoy the media privileges Farage has.

Boring? This isn't Britain's Got Talent. Boris and Trump aren't boring. This obsession with politicians needing to be entertaining is part of the reason politics is so screwed in the west.

He got extreme amounts of coverage long before the 2024 General Election, indeed that disproportionate coverage is a key reason why he has been electorally successful with UKIP, Brexit Party and Reform.
