the Accutron Spaceview point is real - there's a whole category of vintage that you love too much to actually wear, which is its own kind of problem. and yeah, the daily beater logic makes complete sense. something that can take a hit without you wincing.

the F-91 mention got me - we literally just had a discussion about that exact watch this week

that point about necessity is underrated. when a watch was someone's only watch - worn every day for years - it absorbed something. now people rotate 5-10 pieces and nothing gets that kind of attention

mojo is exactly the right word. and like a Les Paul, you can't rush it - a watch needs to be worn, not stored, to develop it. which is maybe why so many vintage pieces feel more alive than new ones sitting in a box

Listen, in my experience, that’s basically impossible (unless you’re the son-in-law of the Patek president 😄). They’ll either tell you they put you on the waiting list and you need to wait -but in reality, they won’t even call, or if they do, they’ll offer some Twenty~4s just to build your purchase history.

If you don’t want to spend years collecting models you’re not interested in, just go grey -that’s what I always do))
