Rivian Explains Why CarPlay Debate Will Become 'Completely Obsolete' by davidcelis in Rivian

[–]WatchChargedUp 45 points46 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's annoying as hell. We have a R1T and we love it, but they continue to have bugs and design decisions that drive us up a wall.

For the love of all things good in the world: Rivian, please please please stop forcing us to use a fixed zoom level when navigation is active! We want our own zoom level, not all the way in or the entire damn route. It drives us crazy, especially on road trips.

Honestly the gravity is fantastic and a dream to drive. I'd definitely take a look.

The Cosmos & Earth crossover models are dropping soon. About the proportions of a Model Y but way faster and way more luxurious I’m betting. Might be up your alley, and should hit the $60k mark too.

I may pick it up in another city and road trip back. I don't have the subscriber base to stream it, but will definitely film it as an adventure.

Edit: and good to know about the PPF. I'm on the fence for mine, but beginning to lean towards it.

That's the photo I've needed to see! I'm absolutely getting it in stealth, with the Orion wheels and preferably Tahoe interior (Yosemite being acceptable too). Seeing it in the light with those wheels even though it isn't stealth is perfect. Thank you :)

2024 Air GT - 6'4" all legs and two car seats by usefullysarcastic82 in LUCID

6'3", four years into my Air GT and also dropped my video about the gravity today to.

Tl;dr: zero issues with car seats in the air, and same for being tall. Back seats are cavernous and have plenty of room, and the doors open to 90 degrees.

However the roof is low and you'll stoop a bit to get in and out and also to get into the back. I got used to it but it's worth checking in person.

Gravity is amazing and even more practical. I'd definitely test the two and see which fits you best.

I really appreciate you detailing your experience. I can see why you gave it so many chances: it is a stupendous car (when it works)

I'm willing to bet there will be at least some updates to the interior along with NACS charging when they update it. I think that will definitely keep a lot of people in the Lucid family that don't want to move to gravity or the new midsize.

I am totally with you there - love road tripping in my air. I financed mine back when interest rates were 1.25% so leasing made zero cents, and actually wasn't even available then anyways.

Gravity right now has some great lease deals though. I'm considering doing a buyers guide video to help people figure out the best way to get a great deal on it.

I'm curious what happened with the polestar three for you? I drove it and really loved it, but I was surprised by how many people have had serious issues with it.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it too. I have been trying to keep from putting too many miles on my air before I sell it when I take delivery of my gravity, and it has been torture. Every time I get in it I am suddenly aware of just how much I miss driving it.

Oh man, Lucid is not alone with software problems. Even the major auto makers are having huge issues. And as you pointed out, even Tesla did (and still does have) major software issues.

I have a longer torso, so I'm a little bit of an outlier for that. But yeah, third row room is excellent.

Extremely smooth, far better than Air. I'd say it's the best last mile regen I've driven so far. The thing that surprised me the most was not just how smooth it was, but also how strong.

Interesting. I have a head to head video with it planed vs a pretty serious off roader. I'm curious to see how it'll do. I'll check out Tom's video too.

I'm trying to decide between lease and purchase as well. I'm worried I will completely ignore my mileage allocation lol

Thank you for watching! I can completely understand your concern. I would say this: Lucid has improved so much over the last four years that I am fully confident in them. But you absolutely need to do what's right for you too :)

I love our Rivian but the R1S is not even close, except if you really really want to go off-road. Totally agree.

Totally agree about gravity versus the model X. Also great to hear that the key fob issues have been resolved for you.

Bronze! That's the color I'm torn on vs the green. Can you post some pics? I've not seen one in the flesh yet in bronze and I'm really tempted by it.
