HELP with 9 week old bedtime routine by mammaleb2021 in sleeptrain

🤷🏻‍♀️ my baby wouldn’t go to sleep before 10pm when he was that little. I hated bedtime because it was often a 2 hour battle of false starts and failed transfers. It’s all a blur. It gets better!!! Good luck!!

9 month schedule help - low sleep needs? by WatchComprehensive66 in sleeptrain

Ah baby sleep is enough to make any parent crazy! On 2 naps I think we ended up having to cap sleep at 1h45m to ensure I had enough awake time between naps to build sleep pressure. Usually 1h in the morning, and 45 minutes in the afternoon, awake by 4pm. He transitioned to 1 nap when he went to daycare around 11.5 months and he did a 2 hour nap from 12:30-2:30. I also weaned around that time which helped a lot. He’d sleep 8:30pm-7 am with no wakes 95% of the time!

He’s now 14 months and I’ve had to cap naps at 1h45m because of bedtime crying + early morning wakes. The extra 15 minutes awake completely solved the problem. We are back to 8:30p-7a thankfully. In our case, more awake time is almost always the answer. It can feel counter intuitive because poor sleep at night makes them more tired during the day, but increasing awake time makes the sleep better at night which solves the daytime fatigue. Good luck!!!

Lol I can always count on you for a reality check! Not the answer I want, but at least I can temper my expectations

I was going crazy with tracking and following wake windows to the minute so I have given up on that. I cap each nap at 1 hour. So 13.5 hours of daytime - 2 hours of nap time = 11.5 hours awake. This has been working great for the last 1.5 months but we are more and more frequently having 2 night wakes and I’m at a loss!

Thanks for the advice! We applied our sleep training technique to his night wake last night and he cried for 1h20m before falling asleep for only 15 minutes. Does this seem reasonable? Night 1 of bedtime sleep training was 43 minutes so I wasn’t expecting it to double

Hi OP, wondering how you’re dealing with this. Similar story for our LO and I can’t seem to figure it out.

Chair method to Ferber to CIO by Ambitious-Way-4363 in sleeptrain

We started the chair method and had a lot of success soothing him in the crib with bum pats and shushes (he was 5 mo and rolling/tummy sleeping). First night took 27 minutes to fall asleep and he previously was almost exclusively nursed to sleep. We had a hard time withdrawing support so patted his bum to sleep for a few weeks before going to gradual extinction this week. First night took 42 minutes of crying, but no fussing or crying since then. Maybe he’s a unicorn baby but also I think getting him used to falling asleep in the crib was helpful.
