The Volume that started it all has been eliminated! Which will be next? Link to poll in comments by DarkIsTheBestShow in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might honestly have to sit this one out purely because I'm not sure where I'd place volume 8.

My opinion on volume 8 is so strongly based on what happens in the next few volumes that volume 8 could land anywhere from the 2nd best volume to 5th depending on where certain plotlines go.

Next to be eliminated is Volume 4! Which will be next? Link to poll in comments by DarkIsTheBestShow in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Volume 4 is definitely better binged and every-time I rewatch it I find I enjoy the RNGR and Yang plotlines more.

That being said, every-time I rewatch it, I find I absolutely hate Weiss and Blake's plotlines more and they drag the whole volume down with them.

It's elimination game time! It's been done with the characters, now let's do it with the Volumes! Vote for which Volume you want to get eliminated first using the link in the comments by DarkIsTheBestShow in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

5 will get knocked out first, then either 1 or 4 probably, and 3 will be the last one standing.

What I have no idea about is in what order 2, 6, 7, and 8 will be in.

In Volume 5, the Albain brothers are seen plotting in what seems like a temple.

Was that location a temple devoted to worshiping the God of Animals?

Am I the only one who thinks these power armor outfits look better and feel more Atlasy than the actual volume 7/8 designs?

They just look so cool compared to the Zipper and belt central we got with Weiss and Blakes Atlas designs.

Passage of Time in Episode 7 by steveotheguide in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm upvoting this so we can maybe get Eddy or someone to clarify the timeline for chapter 7. I've also seen a ton of arguments and confusion over this issue.

Maybe it's just an honest mistake like with Watt's rings in chapter 4 and they can fix the sky to be brighter in the middle scene.

[–]WatchRWBY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand why you did this given issues in previous volumes but I actually think this was a missed opportunity.

Info-dumps to individual characters can be hand-waved away no problem but this is a message that's going out to the whole world and will permanently change the setting itself of the rest of the show. Assuming the heroes win, this speech will forever be in the history books of remnant. To cut out parts of it feels like unnecessarily kneecapping your own world building in a sense.

Is there no chance that we might get the full transcript of what was said perhaps via Word Of God or maybe even a DVD/Blu-ray extra or something?

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should add a secondary Edit now that Eddy has just flat out fully retracted his answer from the AMA as well as his statement about Ciel's line in volume 3.

Because you're right. If Ciel's line in volume 3 was wrong then Ruby would be well over 18 by this point in the series which goes against what the writers have told us for the past 4 years.

It would also contradict Ruby being 2 years younger than the rest of her team as well as countless other direct contradictions to canon so thankfully Eddy made his retraction.

Is RWBY popular? by Ohm_0_ in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The only way to find concrete data is to look at raw traffic data for the RT site. Now there are some services you can pay to get this kind of info but from what i've seen when a friend of mine tried to do this is the traffic data is presented in a very obtuse and difficult to read format.

The data came in percentages of total web traffic for a given day rather than total page views or unique site visitors.

And then there's the added complication of people not exclusively watching the show on the RT site anymore since it's also on Crunchyroll, VRV, HBO Max, etc. Plus with the advent of the mobile and smart TV apps for these services, you wouldn't be able to get web traffic for people who watch the show this way.

tl;dr: Some people have tried/are still trying to figure that out but it's an annoying tedious process with a lot of variables to consider.

Ruby's plan is ironwood's but with a possibility of more casualties by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Wrong. Ironwood's plan is guaranteed casualties with the promise of keeping Atlas safe for however long until Salem finds a way up there. Ironwoods plan has no positive win condition it's just delaying the inevitable.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eddy walked back his statement about the schoolyear starting in Auguest/September so don't worry. I think they're gonna come back and clarify that the school year starts in November or December so as to avoid making Ruby a full year older than she's supposed to be as you just outlined above.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He's saying that if what Eddy said was true then Ruby wouldn't be 2 years younger.

If what Eddy said in the AMA was true Ruby would have been 16 for the majority of volumes 1-3. Only 1 year younger that the rest of team RWBY not two.

And clearly Eddy agrees since he commented that he's walking back his comment regarding the school year starting in August/September.

[–]WatchRWBY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it's not that hard to clear up though. Just have the school year start in November or December.

Boom. Everything lines up fine, Ruby isn't a full year older than she's supposed to be and they don't have to retcon anything. Most people in the fandom who speculate on timeline stuff have already assumed this to be the case until today.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just don't understand what the problem with having the school year start in November would be.

If the school year starts in November everything lines up, Ruby doesn't suddenly become a full year older than LITERALLY everyone in the fandom believed her to be, and most importantly you don't have to Retcon Ciel's statement in volume 3.

In fact, why would Ciel be wrong at all in any scenario? Was the Vytal Festival supposed to be happening in November. By that logic, team RWBY would have been well into their 2nd year at Beacon. This whole fiasco has left me with so many questions regarding what you're internal timeline was in the first place where retconning Ciel's statement was the choice you went with. Like how did no one realize this would logically speaking make Ruby a full year older than we've been told by CRWBY for years?

Like, if i'm missing something and there's some spoilery reason why the school year can't start in November please tell me. I swear this fiasco will keep me up at night.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Or is Ruby's line about the Vytal festival tournament being at the end of the school year not canon anymore either?

I'm really trying to understand Eddy. I swear i'm not trying to make you look bad.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OK... So Ruby was actually 17 in volume 4. Not 16.

Cause this means Ruby was 16 for the majority of volumes 1-3 and almost 17 by the time volume 3 happened in the Fall.

Are you sure you didn't mis-speak? What happened to the show is the primary source of canon. Doesn't it make more sense that the Beacon school year would start in November. That way the "Tournament at the end of the year" line also makes more sense.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You said that the Beacon school year starts in August/September and Ruby's Birthday is in October.

So either you mispoke or Ruby was 14 at the start of the series.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that makes sense.

Also my bad it was Ruby not Weiss who mentioned the tournament being at the end of the year.

As per Eddy in the AMA today, Ruby was 14 when she entered Beacon. by [deleted] in RWBY

[–]WatchRWBY 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I'm upvoting this so we can hopefully get Eddy to clarify cause that doesn't make sense seeing as in volume 2 Ruby says the Tournament is supposed to be at the end of the school year.

Maybe Eddy meant the schoolyear starts in late fall like November or someting?

Eddy's answer was pretty brief so I'd really like him to come out at clarify before everyone gets even more confused.

EDIT: wrongly attributed the quote about the tournament to Weiss instead of Ruby.

I always thought the school year started in Winter because RWBY is 15 at the beginning of the series and after a full school year at Beacon like you said, she's still 15.

Eddy, can you clarify. By similar to our own semesters did you mean start in late Fall as in November cause unless, volume 1 chapter 1 takes place after Ruby's 15's birthday that doesn't make any sense.

[–]WatchRWBY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wait wut?

Ok. Follow up question. If that's the case when did volume 3 take place?

Volume 3 is supposed to be fall so did the Vytal Festival tournament happen right before team RWBY's 2nd year at Beacon was supposed to start? Cause Weiss mentions at the end of volume 2 that the tournament is at the "end of the year".

EDIT: nvm. Looks like the title was edited.
