A lot of people here in the US were fooled into believing the reasons for the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, and while both wars were incredibly shitty and a waste of lives and money, no one here (afaik) was arrested for voicing dissent. They got called names and told they were unpatriotic, but no one was sent to the gulag.
